Job Requirements:
Matrix is seeking experienced Aircraft Dispatchers to ensure efficient use of all helicopter and fixed wing time at our client’s camp facilities. The dispatcher schedules the movements of all crews and supplies to and from the project site. To ensure the safety of all crews, the dispatcher will maintain regular check-in times and will provide the central coordinating role, in the case of an emergency. This position will assist in External Load Operations, in a “Load Master” style capacity.
The Aircraft Dispatcher is housed at the project camp site and reports to MATRIX Helicopter General Manager, who provides general direction and support.
Responsibilities:
- Work in co-operation with all flight crews on constant basis throughout the operation.
- Manage the day-to-day flight schedule for 3 to 5 helicopters
- Logistical scheduling
- General day to day helicopter and fixed wing operations.
- Ensure helicopters and fixed wings are being used efficiently. Manage all trips.
- Check-In times to be scheduled with all crews (may vary with projects but must be established.)
- Establish Emergency Protocol
- Aircraft tracking must not be any longer than 30 minutes unsupervised via radio
- Assign the aircraft according to the client needs in order to maximize the efficient use of all aircraft.
- Knowledge of passenger and load capacities for a variety of helicopter types will be required.
- Maintain accurate records of flights times and passenger movement.
- To initiate and coordinate a search in the event of an “overdue” aircraft, or other emergency operations.
- Responsibilities may vary according to project requirements.
- Track all personnel in remote areas
- Regular call ins
- Hand out and keep track of all Radios, GPS’s, InReach, etc.
- Initiate medical evacuations as instructed by Medical Care Professionals.
- Support site Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Partner with Camp Manager to schedule and execute “mock Medi-Vac”.
- Ensure that all communication devices are charged and operational.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Passenger and load capacities for various types of helicopters and fixed wing (to be instructed)
- Strong computing skill; MS Office (Word & Excel)
- Experience in record keeping, tracking, planning and scheduling.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with attention to detail.
- Ability to work on a rotation schedule.
- Able to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 12-hour shift.
Additional Assets
- ROC-A Aviation Radio License (preferred, but not necessary)
- Seismic logistical/management experience an asset
- Aviation industry experience an asset
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods experience
