BC Aviation Council

Mike Matthews (pictured left), Chair of the BC Aviation Council (BCAC), attended the student networking event on June 16 and was able to fill us in on a lot of exciting developments at BCAC.

For example, the BCAC website has just recently launched in a new easy-to-navigate format full of the latest information. Take a look to find out more about the annual Koffee Klutch Golf tournament, which will be held this year on June 30.

Or, check the website to learn more about the BCIT student scholarships and bursaries. BCAC maintains an endowment fund and the interest from the fund is used to support a scholarship and bursaries program for deserving students in the Aviation Operations programs. The endowment fund is replenished through fund raising activities, such as the Black-Tie and Blue Jean event, as well as through a variety of donations. For instance the BC Airports Managers Association recently donated two $1,000 bursaries for students pursuing studies in Airport Operations this year!

Individuals and organizations with an interest in aviation are welcome to join the BC Aviation Council to take advantage of unique networking and educational opportunities. Of special note is the $20 student membership which not only includes the same networking opportunities as a regular membership, but is also a requirement for application for the BCAC scholarships or bursaries.

Thanks Mike for the update!
