New Posting, YVR Casual AOO

The Vancouver Airport Authority has casual openings for Airport Operations Officers in the Airport Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Centre, the successful candidates will be responsible for handling “day of” operations issues, gathering and researching information, and maintaining a computerized log of incidents.


Key responsibilities of this team driven position include:
• Acting as the initial contact for a variety of agencies such as BC Ambulance, Richmond Fire and RCMP
• Providing outstanding customer service to airport tenants and dispatching maintenance calls
• Ensuring all incidents are dealt with in a timely manner with personnel or agencies dispatched appropriately
• Monitoring critical alarm systems including fire and general alarm system
• Maintaining complete and accurate records of all incidents

Key qualifications include:

• High school diploma; Diploma in Airport Operations or Certificate in Public Safety Communications an asset
• Knowledge of airport industry and airport operating procedures is preferred
• Experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment
• Ability to multitask and take immediate action while handling high pressure situations
• Ability to prioritize with limited information
• Excellent interpersonal, as well as written and oral communication skills; strong ability to enunciate clearly is critical for voice paging throughout the terminal and for radio transmissions
• Proven excellence in customer service
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

The Airport Operations Centre is a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation and as such, shift and weekend work are involved. As a casual part-time employee, you will not work in excess of 780 hours per year.  For further information, or to apply, please click here.
