Practicum Up-date - Li Lu

Twice each year Airport Operations Students take part in a work place practicum that allows them the opportunity to apply skills and theory learned in the classroom to the aviation workplace.  The workplace practicum opportunities range from projects with local airports, airlines and suppliers to those more distant.

Li Lu from AVAO class 14 has arranged her current practicum experience at Yun Nan Airport, and provides the following up-date for us:

I am taking my practicum at Yun Nan Airport Group in Kun Ming, China. I am having lots of fun here, and I am very happy to share my life with you.
There is a new airport built in Kun Ming (my hometown), so the old Kun Ming International Airport will be moved in the end of this year. Most of employees in airport operation department are very busy with the move. My host is the Head of the Airport Operations Department.  My job here is to stay in the station to help my host handle problems that arise. For example: when my host is not in the office, I need to answer the phone or fax information to the different airline companies. My host has a lot of meetings, and I put the finishing touches to his power point presentations the day before the meeting.
I have been working in this company only for a week, but I have learned a lot from my host. I am also learning about Chinese airports and I can see some differences between Chinese and Canadian Airports.
I am very happy that I can stay with my family for about a month. I am living at home with my parents and my sister through my practicum period.
