Pacific Coastal Airlines has an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity within the Flight Operations team in the position of Licensed Flight Dispatcher

Reporting to the Chief Dispatcher, IFR Division and working out of the Vancouver Dispatch Centre, the successful candidate will create and execute operational flight plans and coordinate logistical details, by reference to standard company operating procedures, to ensure safe, efficient and economical flight operations. The Licensed Flight Dispatcher plays an integral role in the operational control structure of the Company.

The successful candidate must meet the following criteria:

•  Minimum Age - 21 years, as per Canadian Aviation Regulations.
• Education - High School Graduation; plus Transport Canada Dispatch exams successfully completed within the 12 months (FDMET, FDOPS).
• Experience - from 1 to 3 year(s) experience in the aviation industry; flight operations experience preferred.
• Knowledge - Understanding of and ability to apply applicable regulations (i.e. Canadian Aviation Regulations) and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Skills - Strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills;  Strong computer skills (Web, Excel, Word, AmeliaRes, FliteStar); Basic business math skills; Strong problem-solving skills, especially when working under deadlines;  Strong reading, writing and comprehension in the English language; and Communication effectiveness with both internal and external customers, authorities and agencies.
• Abilities - Balance multiple priorities; Effective and efficient decision making, particularly when under pressure;  Remain calm in challenging/uncomfortable situations; and work within the confines of Standard Operating Procedures but also able to “think outside the box” on complex issues.
