Update from Trevor McKay

Trevor McKay graduated from Airline and Flight Operations Class 9 and went directly to the Cathay Pacific Cadet program in Adelaide.  He sends this up-date:

I finished my flight training for CX at the end of October doing my MIFR in
the DA42 Twinstar. The G1000 was amazing and had a lot of wicked features!
The DA42 itself was quite an average aircraft but enjoyable nonetheless.

As soon as the flight training was done we went straight into Hong Kong ATPL's.
I'm currently in the 7th week of ground school for ATPL and it's probably the
most intense study I've ever done! A lot of information to take in over 8
weeks of ground school! The ATPL consists of 7 exams: Flight Planning,
Navigation, Instruments, Meteorology Theory, Meteorology Practical, Radio
Aids, and Radio Telephony
. We write them over 2 days in January and I can't
wait to have them out of the way. Once we finish that it's on to jet
transition training in the sim and then finish the course at the end of
February.

I'm fortunate to be getting 10 days off over Christmas so I'm going to Brisbane with one of my course mates who's from there. Hit the beach and hopefully do some surfing. It's going to be good to have a few days off to relax. Things have been great, and I'm enjoying my time in Australia but am also looking forward to getting back home to see everyone.

Congratulations to Paul on receiving the David Charles Abramson Memorial award and to Pat on her ATAC Honorary Life Membership! I can't think of anyone more deserving!
