New Posting - Yukon Government

The Yukon Government is looking for a committed leader with a safety oriented approach to manage our aviation maintenance programs (Superintendent Maintenance). This team member will have the skills necessary to create and deliver an evolving program focused on meeting current and future requirements.

Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport will require much of your attention, but the airports and aerodromes in the communities are just as important for MEDEVACS, passenger flights and cargo transport. On an annual basis, winter operations need attention to detail, while summer is the time for construction projects and routine maintenance. Aviation Branch is the largest aerodrome operator in Canada, so there will be plenty of variety, challenges and opportunities to excel.
Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications

• Experience managing a program, including staff and budget in a heavily regulated environment.
• Experience developing and implementing standard operating procedures and corrective action plans.
• Experience establishing, monitoring and amending proactive safe workplace programs.
• Airport administration or maintenance experience is an asset, but not essential.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability
Candidates should have and may be assessed on:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities, resolve conflict, and build and maintain a team environment.
• Ability to liaise with senior levels of government and develop/maintain good relationships with staff, co-workers and stakeholders.

Additional Information
Conditions of Employment:

• Yukon Class 3 Driver’s License with Air Endorsement and Airport Maintenance Certification (must be obtained within 8 months of hire).
• Transport Canada Security Clearance (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
• Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
• Restricted Operator Certificate With Aeronautical Qualification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Job Requirements:
Travel by aircraft and motor vehicle within Yukon, work in adverse weather conditions, and mandatory use of personal protective equipment.
