Investigator – Corporate Security
Purpose: Assist the Manager, Corporate Security, in all aspects of security at WestJet from a primary investigator perspective, plus some additional general security policy and procedure follow through.
Role Description:
- Assist in the development, implementation and communication/training of policy and procedures related to the Corporate Security functions
- Collaborate in coordinated security investigations and responsibilities with the WestJet IT security team, WestJet facilities as well as with all Airport and Inflight Operations
- Lead reactive investigation and provide proactive prevention strategies for security and incident reports as well as various levels of confidential inquiries and examinations (including but not limited to; internal and external theft; fraud; cargo and baggage pilferage)
- Respond in an Emergency Response role to assist the Manager, Corporate Security
- Assist in maintaining relationships with law enforcement agencies, Transport Canada, and CATSA to meet the business requirements and security needs of WestJet in conjunction with the Privacy Act and all municipal, provincial and federal regulations
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years’ directly related experience in Corporate Security with strong demonstrated facilitation and communication skills
- Minimum high school education
- Minimum 2 years’ recognized training or demonstrated work experience with: investigative techniques and associated legislative requirements; collection, preservation and presentation of evidence; physical security best practices and conducting effective investigative interviews
- Ability to accurately and completely document occurrences using a logical sequential format in a timely manner
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with Canadian Criminal Code; Canadian Human Rights; and Canada Labour Code regulations.
- Familiarity with Transport Canada and Canadian/International Air regulations
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic and changing environment
- Proven ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Excellent proven organizational skills achieved through flexibility, multitasking, time management and prioritization of duties
- Demonstrated ability to deal with highly stressful and confidential situations using tact, diplomacy, patience and confidence
- Flexibility to facilitate frequent travel to WestJet destinations
- Two years airline operational experience preferred
- Spanish as a second language is an asset
- Working knowledge of all areas of WestJet is an asset
