Job Title: Regional H&S Manager (Health and Safety)
Location: Flexible within Canada
SUMMARY
The Regional H&S Manager will demonstrate leadership abilities while contributing to the overall management of the Health and Safety processes for all ASIG Canada operations. Individual must have the ability to meet all corporate training requirements, and interact with ASIG Stakeholders (such as, but not limited to, Customers, Regulatory Agencies, Airport Authorities, etc.) for positive relationships. This position reports to the Senior Director, Security and HS&E, Flight Support.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support and promote aviation safety and prevention across ASIG Canada, working with all Stakeholders to ensure awareness, maintenance and continuous improvement of safety programs
  • Oversee, direct, motivate, train, and audit H&S for multiple stations
  • Represent Company during Stakeholder audits and reviews
  • Act as a subject matter expert by providing information, advice, planning and direction to management with respect to aviation safety programs and systems
  • Review safety-critical operations for procedural, legislative, and contractual compliance and direct changes as required
  • Respond to Stakeholder complaints; and where possible, be proactive and coordinate/address management and employee behavior to best position the Company for its defense.
  • Conduct incident/accident investigations including root cause analysis, and provide recommendations
  • Monitor Workplace Hazardous Materials, and the removal of physical, biological and chemical hazards
  • Deliver training to employees on safety, health and environmental policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Verify compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and ensures all necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines
  • Manage the participation in regulatory inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures
  • Act as advisor to ASIG health and safety administrative teams (committees, etc.) regarding projects, tasks, and operations
  • Communicate and respond to the Regional Vice-President (RVP), GM/Station Managers, Corporate Safety Manager, and BBA Aviation requests
  • Keep up to date on federal, provincial and local laws in order to assist the Stations in meeting Company objectives
  • Provide recommendations regarding accidents or incidents
  • Provide training/assistance to managers and supervisors
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Moderate to heavy travel, that can occur on a planned and unplanned basis
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must possess, at minimum, a College diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or High School Diploma with equivalent experience
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification is an asset
  • Minimum 6 to 7 years’ experience in the transportation industry – preferably in an operational or safety role
  • Minimum 3 year’s safety investigation and inspection experience
  • Extensive knowledge of Aeronautics Act, Aviation Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and CARS, Canada Labour Code Part II, and other relevant Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Knowledge of airport operating procedures and related safety requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of Root Cause Analysis and Risk Analysis techniques and principles
  • Experience and/or certified in delivering train-the-trainer educational programs
  • Experience in Aviation Operations at an airport, air carrier or similar would be a definite asset
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Mail, Excel and other general computer applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills
  • Possess the highest level of professionalism and integrity
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 50% of the time, of which the majority of travel is unplanned and unexpected.
