Development Coordinator
PAY RATE:           $75,631 - $ 78,657 - $ 81,805 - $85,077

The Calgary Airport Authority is a not-for-profit non share capital corporation, responsible for the management, maintenance, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport under long-term leases from the Government of Canada

The Role (Term May 2014 - December 31 2015)

Reporting to the Development Services Manager, this individual will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Coordinate and oversee airport tenant development projects to ensure that all work conforms to Calgary Airport Authority standards, agreements and appropriate regulations. This includes:
  • Project Submission Review: conduct project analysis including evaluation of development plans for completeness and conformity to all Calgary Airport Authority development requirements;,
  • Project Approval Process: prepare necessary due diligence reports, coordinate approvals with internal and external stakeholders, and issue Construction-Installation Permits (C.I.P.’s), complete with necessary conditions. Liaise with City of Calgary and the Rocky View County for development authorization and building permit submission.
  • Construction Phase: coordinate project start up meetings, monitor projects to ensure conditions of approval are met, and as appropriate assist tenants in resolving any issues/conflicts that may arise;
  • Project Close-Out: coordinate final inspections, obtain copies of occupancy permits, obtain as-built information of completed project.
  • Review and respond to development proposals that occur in the vicinity of the airport. This includes assessing proposals against the Airport Vicinity Protection Area Regulation, the Calgary International Airport Zoning Regulation, and the Calgary Airport Master Plans.
  • Maintain and update key internal technical documents, including the Air Terminal Building Technical Standards and Construction-Installation Permit documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of planning studies relating to the future development of airport facilities.



Basic Requirements
  • Sound working knowledge of development approval procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Knowledge of the general planning framework within the Province of Alberta would be considered an asset (i.e. knowledge of provincial planning legislation and associated municipal planning documents such as area structure plans, land use by-laws, outline and subdivision plans, etc.).

Additional Requirements
  • Experience with CADD / GIS software will be considered an asset.
  • Experience in project management as well as a sound understanding of building systems, civil engineering practices, and construction administration would be considered an asset.
