Reporting to the Manager - Security Regulations and Policies, this position is responsible for the development, documentation, maintenance and monitoring of security programs at Toronto Pearson to establish compliance to Transport Canada aviation security regulations.
Job Description Accountabilities:
- Act as the lead GTAA representative for security programs that involve consultation with internal and external stakeholders including but not exclusive to; tenants, air carriers, ground handlers, government agencies and other security partners.
- Development through drafting, publishing and communicating documentation respecting standardized security programs.
- Support the security goals of the programs with regards to plans, processes and procedures through an established maintenance program ensuring that documents are relevant, consistent and well written to establish security regulatory compliance.
- Read, understand, interpret and define Transport Canada (TC) security regulations.
- Monitor publications for changes to regulation and industry best practice and evaluate the security programs to maintain compliance consistency.
- Develop and collaborate all security programs related deliverables into user friendly documents that meet compliance levels set by TC regulations
- Review and correct redundant information in the previous deliverable documents (programs, plans, procedures) based on amendments to TC security regulations.
- Administrative duties in relation to document creation, amendment and delivery including, but not limited to; info gathering,shredding, printing, correspondence with stakeholders…etc.
Job Requirements Qualifications:
- Minimum College Diploma, 5 years airport programs experience or a combination of both.
- Aviation industry experience with a security annex.
- Required to obtain a “D/A” class AVOP permit within thirty (30) days of appointment to the position
- Must be able to obtain a Transport Canada Level III Secret Clearance.
- Must have previous experience in the development and publication of documentation used as training materials, standard operating procedures or protocols.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in drafting, writing and editing operational documents.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of aerodrome operating procedures and related security requirements
- Knowledge of investigative, inspection and audit techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of the aerodrome and all operating security systems such as access control, tenant programs, perimeter protection and GTAA future plans for development and subsequent impact on security operations.
- Previous experience in working on development of user manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) documents an asset
- Excellent proficiency with MS Office with emphasis on Word and Excel.
- Exceptional writing, formatting, and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with technical subject matter experts in a variety of contexts
- Ability to juggle and reprioritize based on requirements and priorities
