Airport
Manager – Arlington
Apply a thorough knowledge of aviation
principles, property management, lease management, and general aviation
operations to work situations which are routine, varied and complex.
Work requires individual to operate from, interpret and communicate
established practices and procedures to tenants, developers and pilots, and to
develop and recommend policy when necessary. Individuals report to the
Community and Economic Development Director.
- Supervise, promote and plan assigned airport operations and development activities.
- Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration, state and local laws and safe operation of the Airport.
- Direct the work activities of assigned personnel directly or through designated supervisors.
- Represent the City regarding airport operations to federal and state agencies, City Council and commissions, the media, aviation community and the general public.
- As appropriate and required, represent the City on committees and at hearings.
- Attend City Council and Airport Commission meetings and any other meetings as designated.
- Participate in planning for future needs of Airport.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough
knowledge of aviation principles and airport operations.

Thorough
knowledge of FAA, State and City requirements and assurances.
·
Knowledge
of Arlington Municipal Code.
·
Ability
to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
·
Ability
to represent the City and its Airport to a variety of citizens, airport users,
community groups and government agencies.
·
Ability
to develop and make public presentations and to speak to various groups
utilizing audio-visual equipment.
·
Ability
to utilize office equipment standard to area of assignment.
·
Ability
to perform field inspections for Airport operations.
·
Ability
to attend frequent evening and weekend meetings.
·
Ability
to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and orally
·
Ability
to manage multiple projects and tasks
·
Ability
to provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
·
Ability
to establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors,
elected officials, customers, and the public
·
Ability
to effectively supervise employees
Qualifications
Requires
a B.S. or B.B.A. degree in an aviation related field or equivalent. Course work
in government management and/or government relations subjects is highly
desirable. Requires approximately ten
(10) years’ experience in a similar work situation.
