First Air is currently recruiting a full-time Inspector, Flight Operations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interested candidates should be able to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
• Ensure that all Flight Operations Quality Assurance personnel have safety as their primary objective by adhering to the First Air safety policy and utilizing the appropriate safety reporting program in order to identify and communicate all known hazards and risks to the organization.
• Ensure continual improvement through the periodic review of documented processes.
• Assist each department Manager in reviewing and documenting their policy and processes.
• Assist each department Manager in developing an internal auditing process in order to ensure continual improvement;
• Monitor compliance with, and the adequacy of, operational procedures required to ensure safe operational practices as per the CQAM.
• Develop and maintain the Flight Operations section of the CQAM.
• Ensure that the standards required by the CAR’s and any additional requirements defined by the CQAM and other company manuals, are being carried out under the supervision of the relevant Manager.
• Ensure audits and inspections are performed to evaluate whether the operation is being conducted in accordance with the published procedures and if required, conduct conformance audits as part of the Flight Operations Routine Audit program;
• Prepare the Flight Operations department for Transport Canada, third party and internal audits, PVIs, PIs.
• Conduct system and process reviews to measure key performance indicators as set forth by Flight Operations.
• Conduct surveillance and audits of any contracted operations, including their operational management activities, to ensure that they are to the standards required by First Air and in accordance with the contract.
• Legislated responsibilities this position holds.
• Responsible for liaising with regulatory authorities, original equipment manufacturers and other operationally relevant external entities as required.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements as well as internal policies and procedures.
• Assist with safety investigations, as required by the Safety Officer and Safety department.
• Conduct audits or assist with audits in coordination with the Safety department.
• Conduct risk assessments and root cause investigations, as required.
• Monitor corrective action plans for completion and effectiveness.
• Conduct workplace inspection as required by the Safety department.
• Any other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Include, but not limited to, the following minimum skills and qualifications:
• Minimum two years post secondary education preferred.
• 3-4 years in an airline environment, preferably with two years management/supervisory experience.
• Minimum of two years experience administrating QA programs.
• Knowledge of general business management practices.
• Experience in budgeting, fiscal management, analysis.
• Good writing skills, report development.
• Good analytical skills, decision-making, time management.
• Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Possess strong organizational & interpersonal skills.
• Strong leadership, organizational and customer service skills.
• Knowledge and experience with QA process mapping, analysis and detail.
• Knowledge and experience in audit, process review and audit planning.
• Knowledge and experience in measuring action effectiveness.
• Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card in accordance with the Airport Restricted Area Access Clearance Program regulated by Transport Canada.
