General: Reporting to the Manager, Regulatory Affairs, this position will be responsible to
oversee the Dangerous Goods (DG) regulatory compliance, procedures and training throughout
Canadian North’s network.

This position will be responsible to:
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations pertaining to transport of DG by air and by ground,where applicable 
  • Assist with the development, implementation and delivery of DG training to all Canadian North personnel 
  • Conduct regular audits on all aspects of DG handling, acceptance and loading
  • Conduct audits on DG related training records and processes
  • Develop, review, and distribute policies and procedures in all related manuals
  • Point of contact for all DG related communication from Transport Canada and to facilitate requests and maintenance of applicable permits 
  • Resolve issues relating to the acceptance, handling & transport of DG companywide
  • Oversee the initial and recurrent DG training programs and records, in coordination with all applicable departments, including program approval submission to Transport Canada
  • Maintain stock and inventory control for DG labels
  • Ensure employees remain proficient through periodic testing of skills, as applicable
  • Assist the Airports Standards team with System Ground Operations responsibilities as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum Grade 12 education
  • Minimum two years of operational experience in an airport cargo environment
  • Previous dangerous goods handling experience is strongly desired
  • Previous aircraft loading and/or ramp experience is strongly desired
  • Previous training experience is an asset
  • Must have the ability to obtain a Restricted Airside Identification Card (RAIC)
  • Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required
  • Moderate travel is required
  • Proven ability to earn respect through actions
  • Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking ability
  • Must be able to communicate with people in a respectful and teaching manner
