The Calgary Airport Authority is leading an exciting expansion program at YYC worth over two billion dollars. With the recent opening of Canada’s longest runway and the construction of a new international terminal, this is an exciting time to be a part of the YYC Crew.
The Role
This is a term role through the end of December, 2016.
The primary role of this position is to support and assist the Director, Strategic Operational Planning, in the development of a holistic strategic operational plan for the Calgary International Airport (YYC).
The position is responsible for the following primary duties:
- Assist in the development of a Comprehensive Airport Strategic Operating Plan (CASOP) that encompasses all customer touch points and takes into account a holistic integration of gate planning and passenger and baggage connectivity processes.
- Undertake detailed research and analysis of airport demand and capacity for sub-systems. Assemble, synthesize, and organize results in a comprehensive manner and incorporate the information into the CASOP.
- Participate and provide support in the development of nominal airline schedules for YYC – in conjunction with other YYC departments and external stakeholders.
- Identify, track and report on the status of action items resulting from various stakeholder meetings.
- Liaise with key stakeholders, including internal departments, partners, airlines and government agencies as well as external consultants to understand operational issues, trends and priorities, and assess how these impact airport operational plans.
- Prepare bench marking studies of other airports. Track emerging trends.
- Organize and develop graphics and presentations to support the development of executive reports or stakeholder meetings.
- Support the Director with day to day tasks, as required.
Basic Requirements
- Strong knowledge base in the areas of airport planning and operations;
- Strong analytical skills related to studying operational issues;
- Ability to work effectively in a heavily regulated environment; and to quickly adapt and obtain a thorough knowledge base of relevant regulations and guidelines;
- Education in Airport or Urban Planning, Civil Engineering or related educational background, with combined relevant job experience;
- Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders;
- Exceptional written and verbal skills are essential.
Additional Requirements
- General and well balanced knowledge of disciplines including airport planning, engineering, commercial development, and airport operations.
Graphic and/or design capabilities would be an asset, including experience working with Photoshop, SketchUp and AutoCAD - Astute attention to detail, self motivated, proactive and creative problem-solver.
- Experience preparing large, comprehensive planning documents which are graphic-intensive.
- Strong organizational and priority-setting skills, with a robust technical writing background.
- Proficient in preparing and presenting material in workshop environments.
