Sunwing Travel is currently recruiting an Aviation Safety Analyst
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participate in the daily review of safety reports for the purpose of determining the scope of investigation, occurrence owner, and event classification
• Conduct safety investigations, analysis, and identification of the cause or probable cause of all hazards, incidents, and accidents identified under the safety management system
• Conduct hazards analysis and risk assessments
• Conduct trend analysis on safety data
• Evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions with respect to hazards, incidents, and accidents
• Prepare and distribute reports to support the monitoring and analysis of trends in hazards, incidents and accidents
• Promote safety on an ongoing and regular basis (e.g. station visits and newsletter articles)
• Deliver SMS specific training (e.g. investigation, root causes analysis, and so on)
• Attend safety meetings and symposiums (e.g. safety committee)
• Additional tasks as assigned by the Aviation Safety Manager
QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary education in a related field, or an equivalent level of education and experience
• Must have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the aviation industry, preferably in one of the following functional areas: Flight Operations, Maintenance & Engineering, In-flight Services, Ground Handling, or an equivalent level of comparable experience and education
• Demonstrated knowledge in the use of computer applications, such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, and MS Access
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills
• Demonstrated organizational, planning and administrative skills
• Demonstrated knowledge in data analysis techniques (i.e. statistical methods)
• Effective communication skills (including report writing)
• A good understanding of safety management systems (SMS) for aviation organizations (e.g. Air Operator (AO) and Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO))
• A good understanding of safety management principles
• A good understand of quality management principles
• A good understanding of human factors principles
• A good understanding of safety management databases, such as AQD
