Crew Scheduler

Flair Airlines Ltd. is a charter airline providing customized charter service for a variety of markets including workforce transportation, niche tours and special charters. We are currently recruiting for the full-time position of Crew Scheduler based out of our Head Office in Kelowna, BC .
Position Overview
The primary responsibility of the Crew Scheduler is to coordinate crews in an effort to keep operations fully staffed and flights on time. The Crew Scheduler will be required to work a variable schedule including holidays, weekends, afternoon and night shifts as the needs of service dictate. The work environment is fast-paced, deadline driven, and ever changing. Overtime may be required.

The Crew Scheduler position is responsible for a number of functions including, but not limited to:
  • Develop and maintain monthly crew member schedules within prescribed guidelines;
  • Award all SDO’s and GDO’s in accordance with crewmembers bid preference or assign as necessary in coordination with the Chief Pilot and Flight Attendant Manager;
  • Award all vacation in accordance with crewmembers bid preference or assign as necessary in coordination with the Chief Pilot and Flight Attendant Manager. All vacation will be scheduled on a six month rolling basis;
  • Develop, schedule and maintain, in coordination with the Chief Pilot and Flight Attendant Manager all required ground, simulator and flight training. This training to be scheduled on a six month rolling basis;
  • In coordination with the Chief Pilot, book all requirement pilot initial and recurrent simulator training with the approved and designated training provider;
  • Assign reserve crew members within prescribed guidelines;
  • Schedule flight crews in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Company Operations Manual (COM), and Fatigue Risk Management System (FRMS);
  • Check daily crew assignments and reschedule crews to provide coverage as needed;
  • Ensure all communications to crew members and customers are clear, concise and completed in a professional and timely manner;
  • Coordinates with suppliers, flight operations management, and crew members in times of irregular operations (IROPS) to resolve problems;
  • Ensure that flight crew duty hours and days worked are maintained within legal limits as determined by the CARs Regulations and FRMS;
  • Maintain crew check-in records and flight project/actual hours;
  • Provides friendly service to and maintains positive working relationships with all internal and external customers;
  • Works in a cooperative spirit to ensure the success of the company;
  • Correctly and courteously handles incoming calls relating to scheduling; provides policy and procedure information, relays information or takes messages;
  • Ensure the timely and efficient coverage of all Flair flights in accordance with the CARs, contractual provisions and scheduling policies & practices;
  • Maintains records for sick calls, personal absences, late and no shows for Crew members;
  • Efficiently and correctly utilizes a variety of company software programs (i.e. Merlot, MS Office, SkyTrac) to perform assignments, update and log changes, and conduct research;
  • Manage uniform stores;
  • Support the Safety Management System (SMS) program through participation and reporting; and
  • Such other duties as assigned by the company from time to time
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • High school or equivalent;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is essential;
  • Must be able to read, understand and apply Canadian Aviation regulations (CARs), related legislation, and company policies and procedures;
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a high stress, deadline driven, ever-changing work environment while prioritizing tasks and assignments;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain organized workflow;
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Make effective decision s regarding scheduling and customer requirements for charters and other flights;
  • Excellent punctuality and attendance is required.
  • Previous Airline Operations Centre or Airport Operations experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR’s) as they apply to 705 operations is preferred;
