Manager, Terminal (T1/T3) Operations

The position operates in a matrix and team based environment and is accountable for overseeing the Total Quality Management (TQM) of the Terminal operations & facility including short term & long term planning that is aligned and contributes to the GTAA’s strategy & Customer and Terminal Services Department priorities.

Job Description
Key Accountabilities:
 
Accountability for the performance of the Terminal Facility inclusive of standards, Including: understanding key terminal process (CATSA, CBSA, US CBP, Baggage, etc.) and passenger flows, analyze key terminal process and passenger flows, and defining the productivity and effectiveness of key terminal process and passenger flows with a view to make decisions that innovate and improve the passenger experience and exceed customer’s expectations
 Decision making in order to sustain and improve the Total Quality Management (TQM) of the Terminal Facility including; performance, aesthetics, reliability, passenger communication, conformance to regulatory and corporate standards, serviceability of all terminal operations assets (i.e. moving devices, check-in counters, etc), CTS programs and products (ACAP, etc), and GTAA (TPIA) reputation.
 Single point of contact for airlines and agencies to identify Terminal operational performance and TQM concerns. Make decisions that are binding to resolve systemic Terminal Operations issues with customers, tenants, agencies, and partners.
 Development and communicate Terminal plan of operations, IRROPS, operational contingencies, business continuity and construction mitigation plans. Coordinate construction and programing activities within the terminal.
 Facilitate the transition and execution of CTS programs from development to implementation; including the assignment of operational employees and resources. Prepare and implement the planned work for operational employees within a specific Terminal. Prepare and implement plans and SOPs for demand for operational employees within a specific Terminal.
 Provide Input into strategic operational decisions, the type of technologies that the organization require, determine how long term labor and equipment are organized, facility location decisions, and long-term capacity to meet the customers’ demands.
  Lead short term operational initiatives or programs including preparation PADS, RIF, RFP, etc., evaluations of awards of contracts

Job Requirements
Qualifications 
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Aviation Management; Business Management; or Logistics would be an asset, and/or equivalent education and work experience
  • 5 years’ experience in an airport environment or similar with demonstrated experience in serving a large and complex customer base
  • 3 years’ Leadership with People Management experience, preferable in a matrix organization and multiple operations experience
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

  • Demonstrated ability to influence, collaborate and negotiate cross functionally in a unionized environment, as well as with external stakeholders to achieve results
  • Solid business acumen and business improvement mindset to solution immediate issues and to identify trends, provide recommendations, plans and implement corrective actions
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively reach a broad audience of internal and external customers, guests and other key stakeholders
  • An ability to anticipate and support the "Day of" operational team as required ensuring TPIA has a successful day
  • Proven relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong decision-making skills and demonstrates a sense of urgency to deliver operational excellence
  • Ability to successfully manage under pressure and respond to critical and or changing priorities throughout the day
  • An understanding of airline, inspection agency, passenger process & baggage handling procedures as they relate to Terminal Operations
