Pacific Coastal Airlines is currently looking for a temporary full time (6 months) Quality and Safety Assistant . This position is based out of the South Terminal building at the Vancouver International Airport in Richmond.
The Quality and Safety Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Quality and Safety Manager and the Health & Safety, Security and Environment Officer. He/she will be assisting with a wide range of occupational health and safety activities such as maintaining and promoting health and safety awareness, conducting regular inspections, providing an input into existing health and safety programs, dealing with employee's concerns, complaints and recommendations, maintaining a quality and safety database, etc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to all applicable procedures, policies, bulletins, directives and regulations while carrying out job duties
- Provide the Quality and Safety Office with administrative support, on an as required basis
- Conduct data entry for provincial and federal safety programs
- Assist with the required follow-up actions to ensure effectiveness of corrective actions
- Assist in the promotion of a safety culture throughout the company
- Assist in the investigation of incidents and accidents
- Conduct safety surveys as assigned by the Quality and Safety Office
- Serve as a point of contact for employee safety improvement suggestions
- Assist with the development of safe job procedures on an on-going basis for the maintenance department
- Spot check and ensure compliance with corporate safety program
- Attend Occupational Health and Safety meetings, prepare minutes and agenda
- Conduct monthly Occupational Health and safety base audits
- Complete mapping of work sites using various software programs
- Administer dangerous goods training
- Create agenda for the Corporate Safety Review Board meeting and prepare minutes following the meeting
- Assist in quality analysis, where processes could benefit from a review
- Assist with safety management functions, non-confidential investigations, updating SMS report information
- Draft memos and policy statements on an as needed basis
- Assist in extracting, compiling, and analyzing trend data relating to safety and quality concerns
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education & Experience
- Previous health and safety experience would be an asset
- Understanding of Quality Management Principles
- Knowledge of CARS (Canadian Aviation Regulations)
- Experience in completing audits would be an asset
- Knowledge of Canada Labor Code
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Organizational, time management and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiasm for health & safety matters and a willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all employee and company matters
- Competency with computer programs such as (Web, Excel, Word, PowerPoint )
- Able to understand the company policy and procedures detailed in the company OSH and SMS manuals and how they affect the company
