Job Description :
  • To provide effective supervision, support and back up to the assigned client location.
  • To maintain and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Sets a professional example to all Security Guards.
  • To provide other services as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Maintains an up to date notebook in accordance with General Orders.
  • Prepares Inspecting Officers Reports and Spot Check reports as required in a neat, legible and factual manner using only clear English.
  • Prepares Non-Conformance Reports for all incidents, complaints or deficiencies discovered that affect the delivery of service to our clients.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with clients to help ensure the delivery of quality services.
  • Ensures all posts are covered in accordance with our contractual obligations.
  • Uses proper and acceptable methods in monitoring all Guards, while remaining within the guidelines of the General Orders.
  • Perform and coordinate break relief functions for all assigned locations
  • Inspects all posts on a regular basis to ensure conformance to company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all guards are dressed in appropriate uniform and are properly equipped to perform their designated function safely and efficiently. This includes the requirement to display a valid restricted area pass at all times affixed to the left epaulette of the uniform shirt or jacket.
  • Conduct daily inspections of posts and record all pertinent information on the Daily Report Log.
  • Compiles Daily Summary Reports from guards and submits to the Service Delivery Manager for review.
  • Inspects all posts on a regular basis and tests site Guards on their knowledge of the Post and General Orders.
  • Monitors guards and enforces all designated airport safety, security and operational procedures & regulations.
  • Maintains effective control for all issued equipment. This includes client issued equipment.
  • Enforces all rules, policies and procedures in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Communicates instructions from Head Office to all security staff.
  • Trains new officers on site.
  • Makes recommendations for improvement that will increase the effectiveness or benefit the service delivery to our clients.
  • Maintains the primary function of ensuring the integrity of all access control points.
  • Performs a reasonable amount of overtime as required.
  • Other duties as required by the company.
  • Assists the Patrol Supervisors to Coordinate break relief functions for all Site Locations
  • Prepare G.T.A.A. Incident reports as required using clear and concise English.
  • Ensure copies of any G.T.A.A. Incident reports completed by guards or supervisors are submitted to G.T.A.A. security and Head Office as soon as practicable after the incident has occurred.
  • Coordinate with the Service Delivery Manager to facilitate weekly silent alarm testing.
  • Maintain Daily Records as per GTAA requirements
Job Knowledge 
  • Knowledgeable of the contents of the General Orders. Carries copy while on duty and follows the guidelines contained therein.
  • Knowledgeable of the contents of Post Orders and Duty Briefings for all sites.
  • Knowledgeable of all Legal Authorities pertaining to duties.
  • Generally knowledgeable of Access Control, Alarm and CCTV systems.
  • Knowledgeable of Site Specific systems, including fire alarms.
  • Knowledgeable of all site Emergency Procedures and be able to implement the same as necessary.
  • Knowledgeable in use of force as it pertains to the Criminal Code of Canada and any applicable provincial laws.
  • Knowledgeable of the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act. Including all applicable regulations and guidelines pertaining to working as a Security Guard in the Province of Ontario.

  • Has knowledge and ability to use PC based incident reporting and scheduling systems.
  • Has knowledge and ability to use CCTV equipment; access systems and PC controlled security systems.
  • Has ability to operate standard firefighting equipment such as pull stations and fire extinguishers.
  • Has conflict resolution skills and is able to use them effectively.
  • Demonstrates good judgement in the performance of all duties.
  • Has the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Displays versatility in dealings with clients, tenants and the public.

Position Requirements: 
  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be Bondable.
  • Must have a valid Transport Canada Security Clearance
  • Must obtain and keep valid an Access Control Officers Certificate
  • Above average verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Minimum of 2 years employment with A.S.P. incorporated and/or one of the following requirements;
  • Previous Security Supervisory experience.
  • Sufficient prior industry related experience (i.e. Police, Military, and Security).
  • Formal law enforcement training or Diploma.
  • Must be willing and able to participate in the Company Basic Security training program that involves 2 or more unpaid classroom training days as a pre requisite for employment.
  • Must have completed Customer Service Training
  • Must have 5 year's Supervisory experience or equivalent
  • Must have knowledge of all relevant Federal Regulations and standards pertaining to Restricted Areas, as well as site-specific security procedures.
  • Must be trained in First Aid & CPR and updated every two years.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.
  • May be required to work in dusty or dirty environments.
  • Physically capable of performing all duties as set out in the General Orders.
  • May at times be required to assist in heavy physical duties.
  • May at times be required to lift and/or carry objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, walk long distances, run short distances and stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to discriminate among standard colours.
  • Must have the ability to hear conversation of ordinary loudness at 15 feet with each ear.
  • Must have binocular vision correctable to 20/30.
  • Must be able to deal with difficult persons on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work all shifts, including nights and rotations.
  • Must be able to work overtime.
  • Must be capable and able to work alone without Supervision.
Reporting Lines: 
  • Reports directly to the Service Delivery Manager
  • Has direct authority over Guards.
  • Provides adequate briefings so that position is filled during foreseeable absences.
