The Opportunity
Are you seeking an exciting opportunity to work for a team of high performing professionals? If so, we would like to hear from you. We are looking for a highly motivated, well organized Base Manager, who possesses a can-do attitude to join our team.
Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Base Manager will oversee all aspects of the Rankin Inlet base operations from on time performance, cargo operations, customer service, to monitoring staffing levels on the base to ensure sufficient coverage. This position will work a modified work schedule, one week on then one week off.

Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for on time performance of all flights within the Kivalliq region
  • Responsible to monitor and maintain staffing levels on the base to ensure sufficient coverage of all aspects of the operation and to make recommendations to the executive team for any changes needed to meet expectations of on time performance
  • Work closely with Sakku M+T Contractor to ensure all ground handling services are met by our provider
  • Liaison with Arctic Airports to ensure Calm Air is in good standing with the airports on all levels of operations, and to maintain the security and safety of all personnel on the base
  • Responsible to ensure the operational status of all equipment on the base for use in aspects of the daily operations
  • Work closely with the Customer Service agents and the Cargo staff to ensure customer service is being held to the highest standard
  • Responsible to resolve any conflicts or issues arising from dealing with the public
  • Work with the Hamlet and the customer base, Northwest Company, Arctic Coop, Canada Post, and all other local customers in the public and private sectors both in Rankin Inlet and the Kivalliq region
  • Responsible to monitor and maintain sufficient levels of supplies for all departments, ex: commissary for aircraft, cargo supplies, housing facilities and assisting Maintenance department to ensure the Hangar is also taken care of
  • Responsible to monitor and maintain the SMS and Health and Safety notifications boards for the base
Requirements/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Post secondary education in a related field
  • Previous airline operations experience preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience required
  • Proficiency with computers ( MS Office )
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal & communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to pass an “Enhanced Security Clearance”
