Manager, Revenue Management - Inventory Optimization
Porter Airlines Inc. - Toronto, ON

FUNCTION: This position is responsible for managing the company's overall inventory strategy to maximize revenue. This position reports to the Director, Revenue Management and Alliances. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage the planning and implementation of inventory strategies for a dynamic and growing network to maximize revenue across the system
  • Oversee key aspects of the company’s overall Inventory Management function and work closely with peers in related functional areas
  • Ensure strong coordination between pricing, inventory optimization, revenue management systems, and other commercial functions such as planning and scheduling, sales, e-commerce and distribution
  • Manage inventory controls for all Porter sales channels, including Navitaire, ATPCO, GDS, and corporate booking tools
  • Manage inventory for VIPorter, Porter Pass, Porter Escapes, groups, net fare agreements and non-revenue travel
  • Evaluate the impact of competitors’ pricing and revenue management actions and implement appropriate responses
  • Support the development and analysis of business/industry market forecasts and annual plans
  • Monitor market performance to ensure that revenue objectives are achieved and implement appropriate revenue growth strategies to correct performance shortfalls.
  • Perform analysis, report, and advise on detailed revenue matters across the network
  • Implement inventory management-related system projects and upgrades
  • Manage the ongoing adaptation, refinement and active usage of the company’s revenue management system.
  • Ensure that Porter’s overall revenue management system grows and evolves with the increasing scale and complexity of the company’s network
  • Maintain and evolve Porter’s training program for all revenue management team members on day to day management practices
  • Manage the adoption of new process and system enhancements from the company’s revenue management system
  • Motivate and provide strong leadership and mentoring to a team of highly skilled revenue management professionals, while developing high-potential individuals for succession or rotation to other areas of the department
  • Oversee coordination of revenue maximizing programs across marketing, sales, planning, operations, finance and other company departments
  • Remain current on leading approaches, practices and technologies in revenue management, and introducing those most relevant
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Blends a strong understanding of revenue management theories, including successful implementation of these theories.
  • Previous experience in the successful evaluation, selection and implementation of a new/upgraded revenue management system in an airline
  • A high degree of creativity, innovation and resourcefulness with the ability to identify and pursue unique growth opportunities
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership role within an airline that is highly dependent on revenue management as a core competence
  • An undergraduate degree in business, commerce, industrial engineering/optimization or information systems, and ideally, an MBA
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports
  • Experience in an airline that is comparable in scale and complexity
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally while driving forward a revenue management agenda
  • Experience in the Canadian and U.S. cross-border airline markets and their associated revenue management dynamics would be an asset
