This position reports directly to the Customer Service Manager, Baggage in collaboration with the MO - Baggage Services and Connections.  The Connection System Coordinator is responsible to monitor ITDS (International to Domestic System) and OSS (One Stop Security Process) dashboards to ensure the appropriate movement and handling of passengers and baggage reconciliation in accordance to the memorandum of agreements between CBSA, USCB, YVRAA and Air Canada, as they pertain to the connection processes at YVR.

  • Effectively and proactively monitor the ITDS (International to Domestic System) for passengers not cleared into Canada by CBSA and ensure appropriate handling
  • Monitor throughput of passengers through the ITD and OSS process
  • Monitor Baggage induction times via ITDS/VIBES/BagNav to ensure timely delivery of inbound connection baggage
  • Monitor baggage recalls by CBSA  to ensure 30 minute time frame allowance is not exceeded for ITD and BIWIS
  • Ensure BSM (baggage sortation messages) anomalies are addressed proactively and prior to arrival for all flights arriving into YVR using the Air Canada Baggage Reconciliation System and the Star Alliance Transfer information tool
  • Communicate “selected Customs flights” to Ramp, Baggage, Connection and Passenger Services teams
  • Communicate with CBSA with regards to upline left off recalled baggage
  • Monitor forwarding messages from ITD eligible stations and communicate with Inbound Baggage using World Tracer  
  • Monitor SBIA process for selected flights, ensuring all bags are delivered and processed per SOPs. Ensure staff levels are adequate for inbound load.
  • Ensure passengers from selected flights have all been cleared through Canada Customs.
  • Communicate and collaborate with YVR STOC team (including deployment) and Jazz STOC team as it pertains to ITD related matters or processes
  • Communicate and provide direction to all operational teams (i.e. ITD Runners, CNX runners, In-transit Runners, Baggage and Ramp crews) as it relates to Hub Connection activities, in particular ITD / OSS and BIWIS processes
  • Monitor connection group traffic for ITD eligible passengers
  • Communicate with Arrival Agents in regards to process and connection information.
  • Communicate with Above the Wing Passenger Assist Team/ RE-work desks and  with all Baggage Room Leads, Managers and or Connection Runners on movement of baggage relating to ITD processes
  • Monitor customer processing/wait times at points of entry (government agencies) though ITDS and Baggage Image Weight Information System tools
  • Monitor PAWOBs associated with the ITD product. Assess and recommend/implement improvements to alleviate mishandlings
  • Discuss operational issues with day of staff and coordinate the daily plan
  • Communicate and collaborate with YVR Planners to ensure correct staffing for the daily operation
  • Communicate / inform the ITD staff on any new processes / procedures
 

Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate solid operational background and knowledge of all Hub Connections processes and procedures

  • Strong knowledge and expertise in AC security and service standards
  • Knowledge of computer systems currently in use, e.g. Microsoft Office, Outlook, Star Alliance TDT, AC BMS/BRS, Netline Ops, Communicator, ACFids and other systems as related to AC Op’s.
  • Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or academic equivalent is an asset
  • Restricted Radio Operator’s License is mandatory.
