The Vancouver Airport Authority has an opportunity for a permanent, full-time Senior Technical Analyst in the Information Technology Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Technology Services, the Senior Technical Analyst will be responsible for providing technical implementation and support services for current and future applications.


Key responsibilities include: 
  • Managing the technical component of projects from inception to completion, including opportunity identification, initiative planning, project scope definition, scheduling, implementation and evaluation for a growing number of key mission critical systems in the airport environment
  • Providing guidance and technical support for Cisco network and VoIP infrastructure such as switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points and IP phones
  • Providing on-call support on a scheduled basis to ensure that any issues are resolved in the most expedited manner
  • Providing technical and architectural analysis for technical infrastructure to be used in projects including: installation; tuning; security; performance; capacity monitoring; troubleshooting; and installation of patches and upgrades
  • Documenting and educating co-workers on all implemented solutions as well as improvements in network security practices and implementations
  • Supporting the business solutions team, assisting with the installation of other application software, and developing and promoting project and operational procedures as needed
Key qualifications include: 
  • BSc in Computer Science or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 7+ years’ networking experience with Cisco hardware
  • 7 years’ relevant IT experience in project management including in-depth technology leadership in infrastructure and data centre projects with an emphasis on deliverables that enhance core business value
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, proven by on-time, on-budget delivery of small-to-medium scale projects
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Superb writing skills
  • Resourcefulness to produce high quality results with minimal supervision and direction
  • Ability to manage priorities under tight deadlines
  • Strong MS Office skills
  • Superior interpersonal and communication capabilities
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with competing deadlines
  • Enrolment in, or completion of IT certifications such as CCNP, CISSP, ISP, PMP and relevant supervisory experience would be an asset
