Equipment Operator (Full-time Seasonal)

We offer a complete range of aircraft de-icing application services, spent aircraft de-icing fluid management and wastewater programs for large and small airports. We accomplish all of this by using a variety of technologies and efficient equipment systems. 

As our company continues to change and grow we are seeking a qualified individual to contribute to our on-going success in the role of Equipment Operator. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide superior service and stakeholder satisfaction through responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and preservation of equipment utilized for the purpose of tasks related to Glycol Recovery Vehicles and processing, while ensuring the well-being of self and all internal and external stakeholders. 

We are recruiting for a Full-time Seasonal Equipment Operator. The position will be located at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) in Winnipeg, MB. The Equipment Operator will report to the Site Operations Manager.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Follow established guidelines for equipment operation within close proximity to airfield personnel, aircraft and other airfield equipment without interfering with aircraft movement; 
  • Routinely inspect de-icing surfaces and promptly collect spent ADF avoiding the risk of fluid escape; 
  • Emulsify de-icing surfaces as directed; 
  • Compliance with all environmental laws and permits; 
  • Proper operation and maintenance of testing equipment; 
  • Transfer of fluid to and from tankers and storage tanks; 
  • Empty debris tank into storage vessels avoiding risk of overfill and ensuring that fluids are never stored in debris tank overnight; 
  • Record volume, location and concentration for every load of fluid; 
  • Move, connect and disconnect hoses and operate industrial valves; 
  • Service vehicles with fuel as required; 
  • Escort non security badge staff in accordance with airport escorting procedures; 
  • Monitor equipment for efficient operation; 
  • Perform quality assurance sampling and testing at regular intervals ensuring samples are in compliance with Government regulations; 
  • Perform water quality testing and reporting; 
  • Complete timely repairs, e.g. replace parts; blowers; plumb new lines; re-plumb old lines; install valves, meters, sensors, etc.; 
  • Complete and distribute daily production reports; 
  • Ensure full communication with next shift regarding current state of processing equipment. 

As the ideal candidate you possess the following qualifications: 
  • Minimum 18 years of age; 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; 
  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets Company insurance standards;
  • Experience in the Airline Industry; 
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada; 
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft and how they perform; 
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle in inclement weather; 
  • General mechanical competence and ability to effectively use hand tools; 
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint; 
  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate effectively; 
  • Ability to interpret documents including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals; 
  • Ability to maintain a positive and good-natured attitude; 
  • Ability to remain calm and perform under pressure and within fixed time constraints. 

Please note: The compensation for this position is an hourly wage of $13.00. The schedule will consist of working 4 days on and 4 days off.
