Work environment The Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) is responsible for the provision of aviation services in support of Transport Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard operations as well as those of other federal departments and agencies.

Intent of the process Anticipatory Selection Process

A pool of qualified candidates may be established within Transport Canada and may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (including indeterminate / term) and/or various linguistic requirements.

You must meet all essential qualifications in order to be appointed to the position. Other qualifications may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications) Education:
ED: A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Occupational Certification :
OC1: Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot Licence - Aeroplane Category, with a valid Group 1 instrument rating

OC2: Possession of a valid Restricted Radio Telephone Operators certificate (endorsed Aeronautical)

Experience:
EX1: Minimum of 3000 hours flying experience

EX2: Minimum1500 hours as pilot-in-command of
multiengine airplanes

EX3: Minimum 300 hours instrument flight time (150 hours must be actual)

EX4: Experience as a training pilot or flight instructor.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications) Asset Qualifications:
AEX1: Instructor experience in Level C or Level D flight simulators.

AEX2: Experience as an approved check pilot (ACP), a designated pilot examiner (PE) or Military equivalent whose duties include the evaluation of pilot competencies.

AEX3: Experience as a pilot in command of a C550 aircraft.

AEX4: Experience as a pilot in command of a C90 aircraft.

Information on language requirements

Knowledge:
K1: Knowledge of aircraft systems, performance and limitations.

K2: Knowledge of Transport Canada Approved Check Pilot Manual (TP 6533) and Pilot Proficiency Check and Aircraft Type Rating Flight Test Guide - Aeroplanes (TP14727).

K3: Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations governing the operation of Commercial Fixed Wing Aircraft under subparts 703 and 704.

Abilities:
A1: Ability to prepare effective lesson plans, use visual aids, and deliver clear instruction to groups or individuals.

A2: Ability to communicate effectively orally

A3: Ability to communicate effectively in writing

PS3: Flexibility

PS4: Judgment

PS5: Client Service Orientation

Conditions of employment Secret security clearance

-Irregular work hours which include evening and night operations
-Willing and able to travel and work overtime as tasked.
-Possess a valid Canadian passport.

Other information - Interested persons must meet each essential qualification to be appointed to the position. However, a person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

- Candidates internal to the Public Service must include their substantive Group and Level (for acting, secondment, assignment or deployment purposes). An assignment/secondment or an acting appointment is a temporary resourcing option. The approval of your substantive supervisor will be required before an offer can be made.
