Airline Dispatcher

Hours : Weekends and Overnights.
Wage: Dependent on Experience

Job Summary :

As part of the Alkan Air team, the Flight Dispatcher will be expected to deal effectively in a fast pace, time critical environment while ensuring a professional manner at all times. This role will mainly, but not inclusively, consist of organizing, coordinating and dispatching of our aircraft. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word and Excel.
  • Maintain effective communication between all Operations departments/staff/Managers and other areas to minimize flight delays and daily flight schedule integrity.
  • Follow all procedures and policies that will enhance and maintain the Safety Management System and its efficiency.
  • Initiate emergency response procedures as required by Alkan Air’s Emergency Response system. Any other related duties as assigned by Management.
  • Answer phones, Skype messages, and email providing clients with exceptional customer service.
  • Ensure ramp is notified of medevac flights and pop up charters.
  • File required documents for international charters.
  • Prepares quotes for private charters and clients.
  • Follow up with clients on all pending quotes.
  • Coordinate passenger pickups and drop offs.
  • Obtain weather from client and distribute to pilots.
  • Maintain medevac board and know whereabouts of all aircrafts.
  • Dispatch medevac flights and keep medevac pilot schedule up to date and accurate.
  • File required documents for international charters.

Requirements: 
  • completion of Grade 12 is required
  • Completion of a Canadian post-secondary program is an asset
  • 1-2 years of customer service in a field or office setting
  • Previous experience in aviation or a similar position
  • Analytical and organized, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Northern experience an asset
  • Class 3 Driver license an asset
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be willing to relocate to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory
  • Shift work, including evenings, nights and weekends, will be required
