General Manager, Operational Planning

WHAT YOU WILL DO 
The General Manager, Operational Planning is to oversee and manage terminal facility resources, aircraft gating, check-in counters, baggage distribution, with the intent to maximize utilization and efficiency of common use facilities.

Reporting to the Director, Terminal Operations your key responsibilities will be:
• Act as an effective member of the leadership
• Collaborate and consult with internal and external community stakeholders and Regulatory Agencies (Transport Canada, CATSA, CBSA, USCBP, CPS) to identify requirements, processes, gaps, and solutions to meet airport facility needs
• Liaise with external stakeholders and other Authority departments in regards to airfield and terminal construction to ensure minimal disruption
• Oversee overall planning and scheduling of the Authority’s operational facilities
• Perform roles in Emergency Response as Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) Coordinator
• Represent the Airport Authority and the Operations Department in all aspects of airport operations including interdepartmental meetings and meetings with various stakeholders such as airlines, service providers, tenants and regulatory agencies
• Oversee the strategy for all operational documentation and training at YYC
• Oversee the Operations Document Coordinators

WHAT YOU BRING 
• Extensive and demonstrated knowledge and experience in Airport / Aircraft / Aviation Operations and Planning, Aerodrome and Aviation Standards, Canadian Aviation regulations, Emergency Planning and Emergency Response
• Solid understanding of airline, service providers, passenger processing and baggage handling procedures as they relate to Terminal Operations and scheduling
• Excellent working knowledge of airport and industry regulatory structure
• Strong leadership skills demonstrated through previous supervisory and people management experience
• Strong communication, decision making and negotiation skills
• Strong relationship builder with the ability to influence others towards a common goal
• Ability to demonstrate tactfulness, collaborative nature and professionalism
• Ability to work and manage under pressure and respond to critical and/or changing priorities throughout the day
• Customer service oriented
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
• Meet the requirements of a safety-sensitive position
• Have and maintain a valid driver’s license

WHAT ELSE? 
• Formal post-secondary education in Aviation or Operations Management is preferred
• International Association of Airport Executives (IAAE) Canada accreditation preferred
