Job Summary
Reporting to the General Manager and dotted line to the Regional Training Manager, the Training Manager will be accountable for training department’s daily operations and will oversee the overall training of YVR Ground Handling, Fueling and Cargo. The Training Manager is also responsible to develop and implement training strategies and oversee the development of training programs in conjunction with overall business as well as station goals. Set performance metrics, evaluates productivity, and help create succession plans within the department.
Job Responsibilities
- Must adhere to ALL safety rules, safe working practices/procedures and Company Policies;
- Ensure that training activities are conducted effectively and efficiently in keeping within budgets;
- Identify skills, training and development needs within the Vancouver station through job analysis, needs assessment and regular consultation with Department Managers and Human resources departments.
- Are Ensure that training and development programs based on both the organization’s and the individual's goals;
- Organize and implement the training plan to ensure the know-how, skills, and performance of employees meet the organization’s current and future requirements;
- Evaluate training and development programs, amend and revise programs as necessary, in order to adapt to changes occurring in the business need and according to organization’s overall training strategy;
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of training professionals to ensure that the organization’s goals are met;
- Ensure new training methodologies incorporated into development approach;
- Maintain close and effective working relationships with customers, and various authorities, such as Airport Authorities, Security, etc;
- Establish strong leadership, relationships with all supervisors and employees through excellent communication and a positive work environment;
- Maintain and observe employee records with high confidentiality;
- Willingness to be cross-trained in ALL areas;
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelors or Associates degree a plus, but not required;
- 2-4 years of supervisory experience in the ground handling operations with strong focus on training, procedural compliance, safety practices and continuous improvement processes;
- Ability to work closely with other departments and managers;
- Computer literacy in Word, Excel, PowerPoint is a must;
- Ability to lead, persuade, gain support, obtain commitment, and mobilize a team to action;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task and deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Highly motivated self-starter, who can effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage to accomplish objectives within prescribed deadlines;
- The nature of this position demands discretion, good judgment and prompt, accurate decision-making, as well as the management of complex situations.
