Salary: Authority Band 9 ($82,044 - $85,325 - $88,741 - $92,290)
Term Length: April 2018 – December 2019

WHAT YOU WILL DO
To provide project co-ordination for low-medium complexity YYC Capital projects within the airport property which includes renovation, addition, or extension to the existing airport facility both airside and groundside. To ensure that building codes, standards and guidelines of Authorities having jurisdiction are applied to the design phase of projects and to ensure that construction is undertaken in an effective and safe manner which causes minimal impact to airport operations. Reporting to the Project Manager, Terminal Construction, the Project Coordinator is responsible for project coordination of the DTB BHS Replacement Project.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Business Analysis:
o Collaborate with internal and external team members to identify requirements, processes, gaps, and solutions to meet airport stakeholder needs.
o Facilitate requirements gathering and solution design through interviews, requirements workshops, existing documentation analysis, and site visits.
o Document processes using flowcharting techniques.
o Lead process discussions to develop and implement solutions to benefit stakeholders.
  • Project Coordination:
o Develop project plans. Track and communicate the status of activities and project milestones,
o Coordination of construction activities within operational spaces; noise, dust, modified hours, shutdowns, security must be considered and coordinated with affected airport partners.
o Communication and resolution of project issues between Prime Consultant and Construction Manager.
o Prepare reports on project progress. Maintain accurate documentation using departmental templates, standards or related processes.
o Manage and coordinate change activities.
o Assist with project closure activities.
o Ensure all commitments are met in accordance with the goals and objectives of the project.
  • Operational Readiness:
o Develop operational trial scenarios to test and confirm that new processes meet the operational requirements of YYC and its stakeholders.
o Coordinate and conduct multi-party operational trials to record and resolve any exceptions between operational needs and facility capabilities.
o Assist operational groups to understand the process flows, plans, and procedures to ensure they are fully prepared to assume operations (examples includes having spare parts, maintenance plans, operational plans, and staffing plans in place prior to opening day).

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Knowledge of contracting and trade methods/practices and products.
  • Knowledge of Building Codes, Airport Standards, Regulations, and Bylaws.
  • Computer skills are necessary - word-processing, spreadsheets, and scheduling.
  • Knowledge of airport operational regulations and processes.
  • Experience with project finances - cash flows, change orders, contractual commitments.
  • Experience with contracts, tenders, and project close out.
  • Strong organizational skills in order to successfully manage multiple priorities, demands and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position liaises with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; therefore, excellent communications are essential. Examples are: deploying information to varying groups, obtaining information from groups, gathering and disseminating technical information, creating a general understanding of a technical subject.
  • Excellent relationship building skills. An ability to build and maintain strong relationships with team members, stakeholders, contractors and colleagues is key to being successful in this role.
  • Basic ability to read technical specifications, design/construction drawings, schematics and details.
  • Conflict resolution skills. The ability to remain calm under pressure and find successful resolutions to escalating issues.
  • The Project Coordinator may specialize in architectural, civil, construction, or mechanical projects. Therefore, previous working knowledge and experience in these areas is preferred.
  • Must be able to meet the requirements of a safety sensitive position.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
WHAT ELSE?
  • Knowledge of airport operations, areas of responsibility, and jurisdictions of personnel.
  • Knowledge base of Aerodrome Standards TP312, Building Codes, Mechanical Codes, Electrical Codes, etc. as required for projects.
  • Knowledge of security and safety policies.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and products to monitor projects and ensure acceptable workmanship is being conducted.
