Flair Airlines is a Canadian airline headquartered in Kelowna, BC with bases in BC, Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. Our company operates scheduled domestic passenger services and charters in Canada, USA, and internationally.
We are currently seeking full-time, temporary Operations Coordinators to join our team in Kelowna, BC. This is a temporary position, with an an anticipated term length of 6 months.
Position Overview:
The Operations Coordinator is responsible to the Operations Coordination Centre Manager for overseeing day-of operations and crew scheduling, as well as specific responsibilities tasked by the Operations Coordination Centre Manager.
The Operations Coordinator will be required to work a variable 24/7 schedule including holidays, weekends, evening and night shifts as the needs of service dictate. The work environment is fast-paced, demanding, and ever changing. Overtime may be required. This position is subject to an Averaging Agreement.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Monitoring day-of operations flights and communicating delays, irregular operations (IROPs) or any other changes to clients, dispatch, and maintenance, as applicable;
  • Consistently monitoring day-of operations crew scheduling and crew reports to ensure crew check-ins are adhered to, positioning flights are protected, and all flights are properly crewed;
  • Answering, directing, resolving inbound crew or ground operations calls into the Operations Coordination Centre;
  • Uploading and transmitting Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) and/or General Declarations (GENDEC), as required;
  • Assisting with controlling and assigning jump seat, familiarization (FAM), or maintenance rides (on approval of the Director of Flight Operations (DFO or designate);
  • Coordinating in-flight services (catering) on a per flight basis;
  • Communicating crew scheduling changes to flight crews and related stakeholders in a timely manner;
  • Investigating and coding delays for all flights;
  • Assisting with coordinating and building ad hoc charter flights (ground handling, airport PPRs, etc);
  • Compiling base supplier contact information and specific charter requirements into Crew Flight Briefs;
  • Reserving, changing, cancelling crew positioning flights, ground transportation or hotel accommodations, as required;
  • Ensuring Daily, Weekly and Monthly Operation Coordinator checklists are completed;
  • Act as Project Lead for various Flight Operations programs and future projects, as required;
  • Assist with continuously updating and adding base, operational and flight crew contact information into Merlot;
  • After-hours Operations Duty Manager coverage, as required; and
  • Such other duties as assigned by the Company from time to time.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent;
  • University/College degree/diploma is considered an asset;
  • Previous aviation, dispatching and scheduling experience is an asset;
  • Proven ability to work in a high stress, ever-changing work environment while prioritizing tasks and assignments;
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint);
  • Valid First Aid is an asset; ability to pass and obtain a basic First Aid certificate is a requirement;
  • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory employment references; and
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located.
