Positions: Airport Operations Specialist (AOS) Classification: FIAA Airport Operations Specialist (AOS) Summary: Reporting to the Operations Supervisor the Airport Operations Specialist (AOS) is a key resource of the Fredericton International Airport Authority’s (FIAA) Safety Management System. The AOS operates standard and specialized apparatus, including manual work to provide airport safety maintenance (ASM) and airport emergency response services (ERS) to achieve safe operations and compliance to Canadian Aviation Regulations. Work is shift work to accommodate up to 24 hours per day 365 days per year operations. Salary: Industry competitive wage and benefits. Terms of Employment: Full time employment. Employment Requirements: Experience: Knowledge of airport industry and associated regulations will be an asset; Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature; Recording data, both electronically and manually, to produce reports, registers and logs; Setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities; Working as part of a team; collaborating with colleagues to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; Analyzing information, problems and situations to: define the problem or objective; identify relevant concerns or factors; identify patterns, tendencies and relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions; and recognize alternatives and their implications; First Aid and CPR is an asset. Qualifications: Fire fighter level 1 and 2; Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) an asset; Minimum of Grade 12 education or equivalent required; Driver’s licence with air brakes required; Minimum of three years experience operating specialized, medium and/or heavy equipment; Minimum of three years experience performing safety performance monitoring by identifying factors impacting safety; occurrence reporting; meeting regulations, directives and procedures; WHMIS training an asset; Mechanical aptitude and detailed knowledge of safety processes; Working knowledge of: daily inspection and basic maintenance processes of a variety of mobile equipment, communication equipment and two-way radio; Willingness to work on shifts, day or night, and in all forms of weather; Physical requirements to be completed in a continuous and consecutive manner per AOS Fit Test: Carry one section (50 ft) of rolled 2.5 inch hose weighing 16.5 kg in one hand a distance of 50 ft; Pick up a 12 ft ladder weighing 13.6 kg from the follow, carry a distance of 50 ft and raise against a wall; Pick up the nozzle end of 100 ft section of 1.5 inch charged hose and drags a distance of 100 ft; Climb 10 rungs up and 10 rungs down on a 24 ft ladder (repeat this three times in a row, rest, then again two times); Pull a 100 ft section of 4 inch High Volume hose and one 50 ft section of 2.5 inch hose tied together for a distance of 100 ft (use hand-over-hand, one or two hand pull technique); Move a rubber tire weighing 225.5 lbs a distance of 12 inches across a picnic table 30 inches high by hitting the tire with a 10 lb sledge hammer; Drag, not by its clothing, a mannequin weighing 150 lbs a total distance of 100 ft; Lower a 12 ft ladder using any technique and carry a distance of 50 ft and lower onto floor; and Lift spreader tool and carry a distance of 50 ft, turn around and carry another 50 ft then lower onto floor. The above AOS Fit Test must be completed within eight (8) minutes.
