AIRPORT DUTY MANAGER
Take the leadership role in the management of the day to day operation for PRM Services for a Ground Handling Company at Toronto Pearson Airport. The Airport Duty Manager will be the senior person on duty with ultimate responsibility for all staff and for ensuring all our contractual obligations are met in full. Manage effectively all levels of the operation to ensure we meet all the contractual obligations of our SLA. And deliver ‘best in class’ service for all stakeholders.

  • This position is responsible to ensure the integrity and efficiency of daily airport operations which includes managing irregular operations (IRROPS) and emergency situations. The responsibilities also include compliance to Aviation Security regulations.
  • Full responsibility for delivering effective passenger services solutions to YYZ Airport passengers in the PRM section (Passenger’s with Reduced Mobility).
  • Monitor and maintain the appropriate Health & Safety standards and ensure full compliance
  • Experience in working and controlling a team of unionized employees.
  • Manage the staffing level to ensure sufficient airport staff is on duty to perform operations, including generating of the staffing schedule and authorize vacation and lieu timeoff,and controlling overtime.
  • Complete or review all reports, formsandlogs pertaining to operations activities on assigned shifts for accuracy and completeness incident/accident, WSIB, daily shift reports, etc.
  • Manage emergency situations and irregular operations
  • Respond to complaints from staff and passengers
  • Incident / Accident investigations for Root Cause and recommendations for corrective actions
  • Resolve customer service issues in a timely manner with tact and diplomacy
  • Responsible for proactively managing safety & security processes and procedures to comply with airport standards
  • Review key performance indicators (KPI's) and convey necessary actions if needed
  • Schedules and approves all travel arrangements related to Training and Development.
Qualifications
  • Minimum five (5) years direct experience in airport operations, airline operations or other related fields of airport management
  • Minimum two (3) yearsmanagement / leadershipexperience directly managing people, in a matrix organization with multiple operations preferred
  • Outstanding customer service orientation, with the ability to diffuse tense situations
  • Superior interpersonal skills, able to interact with all levels in a professional, positive manner, able tobuildingtrusting relationships and be a team player
  • Solid leadershipabilitymanaging, coaching and developing direct reports, experience in a unionized environment an asset
  • Excellent, effective communication skills, both oral and in written format, creating and delivering business presentations
  • Able to influence, collaborate and negotiatecross functionally, as well as with external stakeholders to achieve results.
  • Strongdecision makingskills and effective atproblem solvingand negotiating resolutions
  • Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent time and project management, organized, possessing a solid ability to plan and follow up
  • Able to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines and adapt easily to change
  • Valid Class ‘G’ driver’s license is required
  • Excellent leadership, communication, time-management, interpersonal, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Fully proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office products
  • Able to pass a security clearance check to obtain the airport pass (RAIC)
  • Applicants with current RAIC would be a definite advantage
  • Flexibility to work any shift in a 24 / 7 operation
