The Vancouver Airport Authority has a full-time, term opportunity (to August 2020) for an Aviation Marketing Analyst in the Air Service Development Department.  Reporting to the Manager, Air Service Development - Strategy, the successful candidate will develop, analyze, coordinate and implement initiatives that are consistent with, and will facilitate, the Airport Authority’s Strategic Plan.



Key responsibilities include:
  • Assessing the potential of various markets including their economic projections
  • Developing concepts and initiatives in conjunction with superior qualitative and quantitative modelling techniques
  • Liaising with other interested parties, such as other airport authorities, consultants and government authorities, in preparing air service proposals
  • Regularly monitoring and reviewing changes in the Airport Authority’s competitive position
  • Preparing detailed passenger and cargo competitive analyses
  • Updating Airport Authority management of any relevant developments to the air carrier and airport industries
  • Composing and writing submissions, briefs, plans and reports of market, economic, statistical and financial analyses and evaluations
  • Reviewing the effectiveness of existing marketing plans, preparing detailed cargo marketing plans, and contributing to the development of specific passenger marketing plans
  • Developing, recommending, and where appropriate, implementing communication strategies and procedures to increase awareness of the Airport Authority and the YVR Gateway
Key qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Economics or Transportation plus at least five years’ relevant industry experience; a master’s degree (MBA or MA in Economics) with fewer years of relevant experience will also be considered; relevant industry experience includes:
    • Airline experience in several of the following areas: route analysis, cargo, marketing, alliances, international or regulatory affairs and operations research; familiarity with airline economics and/or
    • Familiarity with the passenger travel and cargo industry components beyond transportation provider (wholesaler, consignor, travel agents, freight forwarders, etc.); familiarity with partnering (e.g., intermodal) and related terms and conditions and/or
    • Experience in airport planning and operations; good understanding of airport functionality and governing procedures; knowledgeable in multimodal transportation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated interpersonal skills in order to build and foster sound professional relationships
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Ability to be resourceful in researching and analyzing markets and issues
  • Knowledgeable on industry information resources
  • Proven experience with computer systems including MS Word and Excel, and various presentation
