WestJet Encore Flightpath - First Officer Pilot Program (73407)

Welcome to WestJet Encore’s Flightpath Pilot Program

Are you a pilot who is ready to embark on a career journey with the Canadian airline rated highest for customer service, who has an award-winning culture and is recognized as one of the country’s top employers?

WestJet Encore’s Flightpath program is designed for pilots who have acquired 250 hours and have completed the MIFR/IATRA written exam. We invite you to create a profile on our Great Jobs site to share your experience and background with us, and once you have completed your written exam, we will review your application for an interview. Following a successful interview, you will be placed in a first officer hiring pool and considered for a future ground school after meeting the first officer qualifications listed below.


Flightpath Selection Process:

  • Create a profile and complete the job application on our website www.westjet.com
  • Once you have written the ATPL/IATRA exam, we may consider your job application
  • If selected, we will schedule an interview
  • If successful through the interview process,  you will be placed in the hiring pool for WestJet Encore
  • We may then extend an offer of employment that is subject to you meeting the minimum qualifications and any other conditions of employment
  • A successful interview for Encore’s Flightpath program does not constitute an offer of employment or guarantee of employment.
  • Airline Transport Pilot License (Transport Canada) or Initial Aeroplane Type Rating (IATRA)
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 instrument rating
  • Valid Transport Canada Class 1 medical certificate
  • Minimum 250 hours total time to initiate a profile
  • Oral and written proficiency in English
  • High school diploma
  • Current valid passport (and a Canadian Permanent Resident Card if you are not a holder of a Canadian passport)
  • All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted
  • Clear police background and criminal record checks
  • Aviation college or university degree
  • Scheduled airline and/or military flight experience
  • Glass cockpit and/or FMS experience
  • Proficient in a second language
  • Internal WestJet and/or WestJet Encore referral
  • Current chief pilot or direct supervisor’s referral
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL) preferred 
  • 1000 hours total time (fixed-wing preferred)
  • 150 hours fixed-wing pilot-in-command time (multi-engine or high performance single engine turbine PIC preferred)
  • 250 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time preferred (high performance single engine multi-crew turbine can be included towards your multi-engine experience – for example, PC-12)
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 instrument rating
  • Valid Transport Canada Class 1 medical certificate
  • Current valid passport (and a Canadian Permanent Resident Card if you are not a holder of a Canadian passport)
  • All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted
  • Restricted area identification card (RAIC) obtained prior to the completion of initial ground school
  • Clear police background and criminal record checks
  • Successful completion of pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test

The following minimum qualifications are required prior to offer of employment:

 WestJet Encore supports a Pilot-in-Command Under Supervision program for First Officers who hold a CPL to accrue PIC U/S flight time, and experience. Fifty percent of flight time may be credited towards PIC/US.  A First Officer may fly 200 hours in Encore aircraft to get credit for the maximum 100 hours PIC U/S that can be used towards the requirement of an ATPL as outlined in the Transport Canada Standard.
