Northwest Company Co-Pilot

As a member of The North West Company’s aviation team the Co-pilot, is accountable for assisting the Captain with the ground and air operations of the company aircraft, a Cessna Conquest II, for corporate travel to our store destinations in Northern Canada, Alaska, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.

Your Role:

  • Pilot the aircraft in a safe and professional manner as a second crew member;
  • Obtain weather data and interpret data based on flight plan;
  • Conduct pre flight inspections to verify that the aircraft is fit for flight;
  • Assists in passenger relations and communication during trips;
  • Responsible for pre-flight preparation duties including external and internal check of the aircraft and sundry items stocked; and,
  • Under the Captains supervision, ensure luggage/equipment adheres to weight and balance limitations of the aircraft.

Job Requirements

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • A valid commercial Pilot’s license with multi-engine and Class One instrument rating;
  • Post-secondary education in the aviation industry an asset;
  • Previous experience operating in and out of northern and remote airports;
  • Demonstrates a high level of situational awareness;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills complemented by strong customer service skills;
  • Experience operating in and out of northern and/or remote airports an asset;
  • Ability to travel up to 170 days annually and to accommodate varying hours according to flight times/schedules;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information given the nature of potential passengers and/or trips;
  • Possession of a valid Passport; and,
  • Ability to speak both French and English is an asset.
