We have a permanent, part-time opportunity for a Coordinator, Volunteer Programs in the Passenger Experience Department. Reporting to the Manager, Passenger Experience, the successful candidates are responsible for the daily coordination and long-term planning of YVR’s Green Coat volunteer program.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the daily coordination, direction and scheduling of YVR’s Volunteer Program
  • Accountable for the recruiting, training, coaching and support of volunteers
  • Ensure effective and up to date communication is provided to the volunteer team including researching and writing volunteer policy and procedures
  • Develop individual and team training plans for volunteers and facilitate when necessary
  • Responsible to ensure all Standard Operating Procedures (safety, security and RAIC procedures) are documented and maintained
  • Provide real time liaison and communication between the Operations Centre and the Green Coat volunteers
  • Understand the peak operational periods and be proactive in attending to areas of potential passenger congestion based on anticipated passenger volumes against the current capacity of the facilities and balance resources for optimal customer care
  • Participate as required with YVR cross functional department projects requiring volunteer support
  • Working with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships with stakeholders and service partners
  • Continuously learn and apply volunteer program best practices and ensure that legislation and policy related to volunteering are maintained

Key qualifications include:

  • Completion of a two to three year technical or community college certificate or diploma, preferably in the area of Business or Airport Management
  • An understanding of airport operations in the areas of airside, groundside and cruise ship operations is preferred
  • Experience in training or group facilitation, event coordination is considered an asset
  • Volunteer management or equivalent experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience in customer service leadership with a solid understanding of customer needs and drivers of customer satisfaction; experience in customer relations is an asset
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs is preferred
  • Solid computer skills, especially MS Office

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external candidates. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.
