THE TEAM
The Commercial Services team is responsible for leading and developing the commercial landscape at YYC. This means looking for creative new concepts to deliver the best shopping and service options at one of Canada’s busiest airports. A diverse group with a passion for delivering on customer needs, this team is at the forefront of commercial trends, and is focused on building a holistic guest experience. 


WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Manager, Commercial Marketing and Partnerships will develop and implement commercial marketing, advertising, and partnership strategies to meet the Authority’s business and commercial objectives. The role will develop, facilitate and manage all commercial marketing, advertising and partnership activities for the organization, from planning to execution and review, and together with the Partner Coordinator who reports into this role, will be the primary point of contact for the Authority’s Commercial Marketing, Advertising and Partnership matters. Specifically, your role will be focused on:

  • Developing and implementing an integrated commercial marketing, advertising and partnership program.
  • Defining and supporting the commercial marketing, advertising and partnership program vision and objectives that support the overall organizational strategic direction.
  • Proactively managing current advertising and partner contracts to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Expanding advertising and partner revenue opportunities at YYC by identifying other advertising and partnership opportunities within the local Calgary community and working with current contracts.
  • Delivering an integrated Commercial Marketing and Partnership program, tracking key milestones within the developed strategy, with the intention of promoting YYC and increasing all non-aeronautical revenue opportunities.
  • Managing on-going relationships and coordinate support from key internal and external business partners to ensure effective execution of advertising and partnership plan deliverables.
  • Managing the effective disbursement of identified/approved advertising and partnership program budgets.
  • Working with our Revenue Manager, reviewing and measuring effectiveness of advertising and partnership programs, ensuring stated goals are achieved and learnings are identified, documented, and shared.
  • Leading business development for the Calgary Airport Authority that encompass Advertising and Partnership/Sponsorship opportunities.
  • Identifying, designing and developing future pipeline of Commercial Marketing and Partnership programs while working with current contracts on new areas of opportunities to maximize results in support business goals.
  • In conjunction with the Partner Coordinator, being the primary point of contact for current advertising and partnership contracts, supporting day to day operations.
  • Managing and supporting one crew member (Partner Coordinator), ensuring their success and career development in support of the Commercial marketing, and partnership areas.


WHAT YOU BRING
  • Post-secondary education required, with a University Business or Commerce degree. 
  • Proven Marketing, and/or Partnership experience (5 years) demonstrating a strategic focus with experience in developing annual partnership plans and customer engagement programs.
  • Strong working knowledge in developing strategic Marketing and Partnership strategies and a demonstrated ability to apply them. Knowledge of sound partnership principles (the 5 P’s) and how to apply these in new and emerging areas. 
  • Business experience in digital advertising and running successful social media campaigns, media planning and experience.  
  • Business experience working with agencies, brand management and partners with a demonstrated knowledge and ability to proactively identify, develop, and close innovative business opportunities.  
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in business development, marketing, and sponsorships, including contract management and developing new businesses and/or brands.
  • Ability to effectively interact with multiple internal and external stakeholders including cross-functional teams, management, partners, and brand clients, in a timely manner within a short timeframe. 
  • Strong knowledge of market research, insights and analyses best practices, to ensure strong measurement of programs. 
  • A keen ability to adapt and reset priorities in a rapidly changing environment. Must possess excellent strategic, analytical, leadership and interpersonal skills. 
  • Leadership experience managing teams preferred.
