Maximum Altitude - ATC Tour Wrap up!

Maximum Altitude members tour the
Air Traffic Control Centre at YVR
Maximum Altitude,a group of BCIT students from the Aeropace Campus interested in the field of aviation, held a YVR  Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tour in May. The participants experienced first-hand life at the second busiest air traffic control tower in Canada, and a few were able to watch the development of an emergency landing. As the ARFF trucks rolled out onto the tarmac the excitement in the air was palpable. Everything turned out well as the process was largely precautionary; the aircraft landed safely with no injuries.

The group learned many interesting facts and saw a lot, including a glimpse of the world’s first commercial FOD radar. The Canucks banner story also drew some laughter. All in all, 16 lucky aviation students attended the tour and all went home with an experience of a lifetime.
