Another New Post - Keewatin Air

Keewatin Air has operated in the rugged Canadian Arctic for 40 years, logging over 100,000 hours of medevac airtime in some of the most challenging environmental condition in the world although we operate charter and scheduled airline services, our main focus is and has always been medical travel. Whether it is moving passengers with medical needs on our charter aircraft or scheduled airline or transporting a critically ill patient on our air ambulance, we have made medical travel our specialty. Our air medical program is recognized as one of the best air ambulance services in Canada.

Keewatin Air is committed to provision of the best possible air services in Nunavut. We have invested substantially in the infrastructure needed to provide around the clock medically oriented air services in Nunavut and northern Manitoba.

We are seeking a diverse candidate to join Keewatin Air in the position of Assistant Operations Manager. 
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position would be responsible and accountable for but not limited to performing the following:

Ø Demonstrate knowledge to Transport Canada with respect to the content of the CompanyOperations Manual, the Air Operator Certificate and Operations Specifications, the provisions, of the regulations and standards necessary to carry out the duties and responsibilities to ensure safety.
Ø Assist in the supervision, production and amendment of the Company Operations Manual
Ø Assist in the Control of operations and operational standards of aeroplanes operated
Ø Assist to identify operations coordination functions which impact on operational control i.e. maintenance, crew scheduling, load control, equipment scheduling
Ø Assist in the supervision, organization, function and manning of: flight operations, cabin safety, crew scheduling and rostering, training programs and flight safety
Ø Assist in the liaison with the regulatory authority on all matters concerning flight operations including variations to the Air Operator Certificate
Ø Accountable for implementing and performing risk management functions of SMS; establish departmental safety objectives and targets (goals); fostering the collective understanding and intentions of those targets (goals) in respective department

Education and Experience
Ø Minimum Grade 12 diploma with minimum 3-5 years of aviation experience required, three (3) plus years of aviation experience preferred
Ø Hold or have held appropriate license and ratings which a Pilot-in-Command is required to hold for one of the aeroplanes operated; or have acquired not less than three (3) years related progressive management and leadership experience with an air operator of a commercial air service whose flight operations are similar in size and scope
Ø Must have sound knowledge of Aviation Regulations and Standards
Ø Committed and dedicated to Quality Assurance (QA) practices and processes
Ø Strong communication skills; verbal and written
Ø Highly organized, driven and self motivated
Ø Computer proficiency essential; Microsoft Office Programs, Outlook, email Ø Ability to think critically and act logically to evaluate situations and provide sound judgment
