The Vancouver Airport Authority has a two-year acting assignment/term opportunity for a full-time Terminal Coordinator, Capital Projects in the Engineering Projects Department. Reporting to the Director, Security, the successful candidate will act as a liaison between the Engineering Project Managers and Airport Operations, ensuring all terminal construction projects are organized and conducted safely.

Key responsibilities include:
• Attending regular construction meetings to ensure planned activities are carried out with minimum impact to regular operations and to determine what activities require review and coordination with relevant Operational stakeholders (Security, Care, Scheduling etc.); coordinating the reviews required and providing feedback to the Project Manager
• Reviewing phasing, hoarding plans and other mitigation tactics that will impact passenger or baggage movement or life safety systems; consulting with relevant Operational stakeholders as required and providing feedback to the Project Manager
• Coordinating communications to the real time Operations staff of ongoing and upcoming activities; this may include regular status update meetings as well as SharePoint site postings and other communications
• Planning, coordinating and communicating any irregular operations required by the construction program; this includes notification of any key stakeholders whose operations will be affected by the activities – including airlines, tenants, CBSA, USCBP and CATSA
• Leading the coordination and communication of any planned service or system outages required by the construction program; this includes the production of an operational plan for such outages (gate closures, elevator outages, power outages, etc.) and involves engaging several departments (Retail & Passenger Services, Maintenance, IT and Engineering) to produce and communicate one plan for Operations and Maintenance

Key qualifications include:
• Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience; completion of a Certificate or Diploma in Airport Operations or Construction Management is an asset
• A work history that demonstrates a personal commitment to safety and operational excellence
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills – particularly the ability to organize information into work plans and communicate
• Strong understanding of airport functions, processes, policies and procedures
• Proven project management skills
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people in challenging situations
• Excellent computer skills, and proven competency with the MS Office Suite of programs
• Highly organized
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain Restricted Radiotelephone Operator’s License (Aeronautic) and Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification
