YVR FOD Walk

Early morning FOD Team
Each year during NAOSH Week YVR hosts the extremely popular FOD Walk to create awareness around the issue of Foreign Object Debris/Damage airside.

The year 60 students and instructors from the Aerospace Campus, including AVAO Classes 15, 16 and AVFO Class 11 arrived at the airport at 0430 to join teams of Airport Authority employees to fight FOD.  Small teams scoured the Aprons, runways and taxiways in search of metal, paper and other forms of garbage - and the elusive golden FOD Rocks, which were later be turned in for valuable prizes.

After an hour airside, the groups reconvened at the Observation Deck for breakfast and prize draws. Everyone who attended received a thank you gift of $10 YVR Bucks - but that's not all!  Several students won additional prizes ranging from coffee mugs and first aid kits to one of the Grand Prizes, a trip for two on West Jet.  Thank you YVR for this great opportunity!
