The Brantford Flying Club is currently recruiting an Airport Technician
Job Description:
The Airport Technician is key role in the smooth running of daily Brantford Flying Club operations. The APT is responsible for all fuel, janitorial and airport maintenance services provided by the Brantford Flying Club.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to the FBO Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service
The APT acts as a representative of the Brantford Flying Club in his/her interactions with every member and customer. They are expected to work independently to ensure all members and customers are provided with positive, timely and accurate services by:
• Greeting members, customers and visitors in a welcoming and professional manner.
• Being knowledgeable of the services available at the airport and able to respond accurately and completely to customer inquiries.
• Ensuring that the customers’ needs for service are identified and understood when they are the first point of contact with the customer.
• Working to ensure the customers’ needs are met including, making arrangements for fuelling, catering, hotel, car rentals and other related requests if required, by completing them personally or delegating appropriately.
• Collecting appropriate fees for services rendered.
• Ensuring appropriate documentation is completed for services provide bother meet the customer requirements and those of the Brantford Municipal Airport and the Brantford Flying Club.
Fueling
The APT is responsible for ensuring all fuelling operations are safe and in compliance with the Brantford Flight Centre’s Fuelling Operations Manual, as well as being efficient and accurate by:
• Being aware of an following all required procedures of the BFC Fuelling Operations Manual.
• Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Performing daily inspections of fueling equipment prior to commencing work. Documenting any mechanical issues noted and informing the FBO Manager of the same.
• Responding promptly and professionally to fuelling requests.
• Promptly and accurately communicating with office staff after fueling an aircraft
• Operating and maintaining fuelling equipment
• Refueling aircraft according to customer specifications
• Perform daily stock balancing and inventory monitoring of fuel deliveries and associated receipts
Terminal Maintenance
The APT is responsible to keep the BFC facilities and equipment well maintained including:
• Daily janitorial upkeep of the facilities
• Washing and detailing fuel trucks, airport equipment and aircraft as needed
• Landscape Maintenance
• Snow Clearing
• Other projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma
• Class G2 Drivers Licence or higher
• Willing and able to obtain Airside Vehicle Operating Permit (AVOP)
• Willing to attend and complete BFC Fuel Training and Exam
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Practiced problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Practiced in telephone and texting
• Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to details
• Demonstrated computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and email
• Have or able to obtain an Industry Canada Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical radio licence
• Have a mobile phone capable of texting
Physical Abilities
• Able to lift 40lbs to shoulder height
• Climbing ladders
• Able to work outdoors in hot/cold temperatures for extended periods of time
