Harbour Air is currently recruiting a Safety Manager. 

The Safety Manager drives the success of the operation through his/her commitment to ensuring compliance with relevant safety regulations. 

• Develop and implement Aviation and Corporate Safety programs - Occupational Health and Safety Plans; WorksafeBC; Safety Management System; Emergency Response Plan; Dangerous Goods; WHMIS; Human Factors; Crew Resource Management; Occupational First Aid; Hazard Prevention; Persons with Disabilities
• Review and where required, develop health and safety policies and procedures that will meet the due diligence in accordance to application of all Federal legislation
• Coordinate and deliver safety training for staff that promotes safe work practices
• Guide Supervisors/Managers in the development of safety improvement plans as directed by the VP of Flight Operations and Safety
• Create/revise/standardize documentation for investigations, inspections, hazard analysis, emergency preparedness, and safety memos/bulletins
• Conduct root cause investigation of recordable injuries and other identified safety incidents in conjunction with other managers and monitor follow-up activities to ensure timely completion
• Assist in corporate safety audits and ensure corrective plans are implemented
• Attend management meetings
• Support and provide leadership to the Joint Health and Safety Committee
• Guide and mentor department staff

Skills Required
• Knowledge of Transport Canada CARS, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations - WorksafeBC, CASS, Aviation Occupational Health and Safety, Canada Labour Code – Part II
• Excellent oral and written communication and training skills; Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Experience/Knowledge in Aviation Flight Operations and Ground Operations
• Leadership skills and the ability to motivate employees in order to improve processes and performance in health and safety
• Geographical knowledge of the BC South Coast
