Canadian North is currently recruiting a Manager, Airports Operational Standards & Regulations, based in Edmonton, reporting to the Director, Airports & Operational Performance and Director, Flight Operations

General Responsibilities:
 providing leadership and overall management for all Canadian North’s assets, business interests, customers and employees, as they pertain to ramp operations, system-wide;
 the delivery of the Company’s strategic business objectives;
 the implementation and monitoring of all ramp service standards and procedures, including service quality and reliability processes, as well as ensuring the integrity of the Aurora Concierge services;
 through regular inspections of all Ramp Service processes, ensure all Ramp Employees have the knowledge, attitude, and excellent customer service skills necessary for success, while challenging employees to continuously improve on service delivery;
 ensure all Ramp Service employees are fully knowledgeable of and compliant with Transport Canada regulations and all related training;

Responsibilities:
 maintain excellent knowledge of Canadian North’s Safety Management System, and subsequently investigate and respond to all reports of ramp incidents and accidents;
 ensure a clean, safe, unobstructed work area is maintained and continuously practice proper safety habits;
 assist Director, Airports and Operational Performance, with the planning of staffing levels and recruitment of ramp service employees across Canadian North’s system:
 responsible for the scheduling and supervision of ramp audits to ensure compliance with Canadian North’s safety regulations and ramp SOP’s;
 communicate airport SOP revisions to all operational departments (COC, MTC, Safety, Flight Ops, Inflight, etc)
 maintain timely and accurate Documentation Control for Airports on Canadian North’s Intranet and the FTP site
 ensure Deicing Training across Canadian North’s system, including FBO facilities is in compliance with regulations
 responsible for timely and accurate maintenance of the Auto-Weight and Balance System and manage the transition of new aircraft to the fleet;
 responsible to ensure the maintenance and procurement of ramp equipment across Canadian North’s system and travel to stations as required;
 responsible for ensuring the general training of ramp employees, including the Canadian North differences module, which is to be presented to all third party ramp handlers is completed in a timely and accurate manner;
 respond to company, government or any other regulatory agency audits in a timely manner;
 liaison with Corporate Services regarding all Company human resources practices, including Beneficiary Employment, Career Development programs and Career Fairs;
 responsible for the continuous assessment of ramp employees on the job to ensure the achievement of service levels, adherence to uniform policy; service procedures; compliance with all company and government regulatory policies and procedures as set out in the applicable manuals and training programs as required;
 provide ongoing support to ramp employees to continuously improve product and service delivery; holding them accountable for meeting performance and service expectations;
 support and implement department performance metrics, including on-time performance;
 conduct annual performance meetings with contracted ramp employees and Canadian North ramp employees, supplemented with monthly coaching sessions or more often if required and documented accordingly;
 promote superior employee relations by encouraging open communication and cooperation; issuance of memorandums as required and keeping ramp employees informed on a regular basis;
 implement and track a ramp employee recognition program;
 promote good customer and supplier relations and positive public relations within the business and airport communities;
 assist in response to customer comments relating to ramp issues in a timely and appropriate manner;
 participate in Health and Safety meetings and other management committees as opportunities arise;
 attend YEG Airport AOC and ACC meetings, to represent the interests of Canadian North on all YEG airport operational issues pertaining to the ramp;
 approve and submit purchase invoices to Head Office in a timely manner;
 assist the Director, Airport Operations, with preparation of the departmental budget as it pertains to ramp operations and with the development of profitability improvement initiatives while contributing to overall corporate objectives; submit month-end variance reports to Head Office;
 maintain complete confidentiality with respect to all information obtained directly or indirectly with regards to the business affairs of the Company;
 assist the Charters Department with quoting of charter requests;
 oversee the assignment of support staff, such as loadmaster, logistics, etc, for any charter activity such as air cadets, polar bear, adhoc, etc., as required;
 work on other projects or duties as assigned by the Director, Airport Operations.

Qualifications:
 Minimum one year of operational experience in an airport environment
 Ramp experience considered an asset
 Excellent leadership and effective interpersonal skills in dealing with customers, the public, company management and employees and contract management and employees
 Knowledge of the Automated Weight & Balance Program is essential
 A strong background in PC skills and clear understanding of Sabre functions and all facets of operational handling
 Ability to work under pressure and make sound decisions
 Demonstrated ability to multitask and possess good time management skills
 Strong ability to determine performance goals and ability to hold others accountable
 Ability to travel and work flexible hours
