We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee airport ground-handling service station operations. This will include (but not be limited to) wide- and narrow-body ramp, baggage and cabin cleaning services, GSE maintenance, primary customer service and liaison, and identification of new business opportunities. Job Responsibilities
As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all of your assigned ground-handling service operations run smoothly and consistently so that ATS continues to be able to provide our customers with unmatched responsiveness in handling their specific needs and critical schedules. You will report directly to the Ramp Manager.
Your specific duties as an Operations Manager will include:
- Understanding all contract requirements and customer expectations
- Determining and maintaining the necessary and appropriate amount of personnel
- Directing and controlling people and equipment and ensuring that work schedules are adhered to
- Knowing company policies and interpreting manuals in order to communicate information to subordinates
- Monitoring and/or conducting required personnel training
- Conducting employee performance evaluations as well as providing employee counseling and discipline as needed
- Assuming responsibility for the security of company funds, supplies and equipment
- Ensuring compliance with established company safety policies and procedures, including ramp safety, FAA and Transport Canada requirements and airline required audits
- Maintaining a good working relationship with customers and providing prompt response to service requests
- Actively seeking out future business opportunities and reporting them to station management
Job Requirements
As an Operations Manager, you must be a motivational leader with strong organizational, prioritization and time-management skills. It is also important that you have excellent communication skills and the ability to converse professionally with customers and employees.
- High school diploma or GED
- 3 years progressive management experience, including customer service and ground handling of commercial aircraft
- Minimum 1 year experience handling wide- and/or narrow-body aircraft
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Ability to obtain airport security clearance, including an extensive check of your last 5 years of employment, criminal record and residence history
- Valid driver’s license and ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
- Extensive knowledge of all applicable Transport Canada, CATSA, FAA, Labour Canada & WCB regulations
- Basic computer proficiency
- Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, or irregular shifts, including extended hours on short notice
- Willingness to travel as required
- Ability to lift up to 32 kg in confined spaces, and to stand, lift, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time
- Willingness to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment
- Familiarity with GSE maintenance procedures preferred
