Wage: $ 28.72 when working at Airport; $27.44 when working as Labourer
The City of Quesnel requires 2 Full-Time Airport Maintenance Specialist/Labourers. These positions will report directly to the Airport Operations Supervisor during winter months, and will be stationed at the Quesnel Airport Maintenance Shop. During the summer months, the incumbent will be a Labourer at the Public Works Yard, reporting to the Deputy Works Superintendent (or designate). The incumbent will also provide coverage at the Airport during the summer months as required for vacation/sickness relief.
This position is open to all female and male applicants.
Nature of Position:
The Airport Maintenance Specialist maintains and repairs, on an ongoing and regular basis, a wide range of airport facilities, both airside and others. The City of Quesnel is willing to provide on-the-job training provided that the applicant has a Class 3 Driver's License with airbrake certification, has three years heavy equipment operating experience and is willing to obtain all the required qualifications.
- the clearing of brush from roadways and ditches
- the cutting of grass and removal of weeds from lawns and gardens
- the filling of potholes and cracks in pavement
- the sweeping and cleaning of sidewalks, streets and boulevards the provision of general assistance in road and sidewalk construction various other related tasks
In performing these duties, the Labourer will be required to operate various pieces of equipment such as jack hammers, power saws, chain saws, lawn mowers, light trucks and compactors. The Labourer will also be expected to provide assistance to, and receive direction from, Equipment Operators, Utilities personnel, Parks personnel and other Public Works employees.
- Class 3 Driver's License Airbrake Certification
- Three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment including dump trucks and wheel loaders
- The ability to communicate effectively in English in person and during radio transmissions
- Must be physically able to carry out the duties associated with the position
