Wildlife Hazard Manager, Securiguard Services - Vancouver, BC
The Site Manager Wildlife Control will be responsible for the overall coordination, supervision and management of the airport Wildlife Hazard Management Plan and Wildlife Control Officers. This includes allocating resources, designating responsibility, coordinating training, and reviewing performance of the Plans implementation. The program provides 24/7 airport coverage to control wildlife affecting the safety of the aircraft and passengers
Job Duties:
-Coordinate all aspects of the Services;
-Produce, update, and manage all Standard Operating Procedures for the Services;
-Responsible for conducting comprehensive strike investigations;
-Manage the Quality Assurance Program and SMS Program;
-Ensure all contract services suppliers complete the training program as set out in the plan, including -recurrent training;
-Maintain complete and accurate training records of all contract services suppliers;
-Carry out accurate data collection and record keeping and report all information to the Airport Authority on a monthly basis or as otherwise required;
-Communicate with the Airport Authority on the performance of the services;
-Manage the maintenance and records of all equipment including but not limited to firearms, communication equipment and fleet vehicles;
-Maintain an awareness of high hazard land use activities (including refuse dumps and transfer stations, food processing plants, and other land uses that may be highly attractive to wildlife) within an area defined by an 8 km radius area around the dyked perimeter of Sea Island.
-Participate in the development of Habitat Management Plans with the Airport Authoritys wildlife management team.
-Liaison between Wildlife Management Officers and Westguard Head Office for day to day issues;
-Auditing of officer performance and completion of tasks
-Be available to advise and or respond to emergencies in a 24 hour environment.
Education:
-University Degree preferred, College Diploma or certificate in Personnel Management, Business Management, Human Resources OR experience in an operational setting involving the management and supervision of a large number of staff members;
-Previous aviation experience is considered an asset;
-Experience in wildlife management and data collecting;
-Degree or diploma in wildlife management preferred
Experience:
Minimum of five years experience as a manager in an operational setting combined with or in addition to having a wildlife control, biology or airfield industry preferred.
Special Qualifications & Training:
-Demonstrated attributes in leadership, judgment, decision making, delegation, planning, organizing, problem solving, analytical skill, interpersonal sensitivity and tolerance are required.
-Computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet & GPS familiarity)
-Communications, reporting and statistical skills.
-PAL (Possession and Acquisition License)
-PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operators Card)
- Enhanced Criminal Record Check
-A Valid BC Class 5 Drivers License and Clean Drivers Abstract
-Be able to communicate effectively through radio transmissions
Certification Requirements (All)
-- Class 5 Driver's License
-- PAL License
-- PCOC Certification
