The Calgary Airport Authority is a not-for-profit non share
capital corporation, responsible for the management, maintenance, operation and
development of the Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport under
long-term leases from the Government of Canada
The Role
Reporting to Director, Operations, this safety-sensitive
position is responsible for the safe and efficient 24/7 daily operations of the
Airport. This includes day-to-day facility scheduling, coordination and
operational response at the Calgary International Airport on a 24-hour basis.
This safety-sensitive position has the following primary duties:
- During non-office hours, acts as the senior Airport Authority representative on site.
- Coordinate and assign the usage of common use facilities including aircraft gates, counters, baggage claim devices and make up units and aircraft parking stands.
- Resolve conflicts with respect to competing demands for the use of airport facilities.
- Assist in the coordination of work done by others to airport facilities with minimal impacts on airport operations.
- Manage the Operations Center.
- Coordinate the implementation of all airport emergency procedures in the event of emergencies.
- Conduct routine inspections of airside, groundside, and the terminal facilities.
- Provide direction, information, advice and guidance to all airport users.
Basic Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.
- Strong decision maker with ability to assess situations and recommend timely and appropriate courses of action.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic and changing environment.
- A positive attitude and strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships at all levels within the airport environment.
- Ability to handle stress and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner and be able to manage others in a stressful environment.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, displaying ease in working with a variety of software applications, including the ability to maintain databases.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to obtain and maintain an Airfield Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
- Be available to work a 12-hour shift rotation, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
A good working knowledge of Canadian regulations governing
airlines and airports would be an asset.
