The Calgary Airport Authority is currently recruiting a full-time Airport Duty Manager

PAY RATE:           $84,075 – $87,438 – $90,936 – $94,574

The Calgary Airport Authority is a not-for-profit non share capital corporation, responsible for the management, maintenance, operation and development of the Calgary International Airport and Springbank Airport under long-term leases from the Government of Canada

The Role
Reporting to Director, Operations, this safety-sensitive position is responsible for the safe and efficient 24/7 daily operations of the Airport. This includes day-to-day facility scheduling, coordination and operational response at the Calgary International Airport on a 24-hour basis. This safety-sensitive position has the following primary duties:
  • During non-office hours, acts as the senior Airport Authority representative on site.
  • Coordinate and assign the usage of common use facilities including aircraft gates, counters, baggage claim devices and make up units and aircraft parking stands.
  • Resolve conflicts with respect to competing demands for the use of airport facilities.
  • Assist in the coordination of work done by others to airport facilities with minimal impacts on airport operations.
  •  Manage the Operations Center.
  • Coordinate the implementation of all airport emergency procedures in the event of emergencies.
  • Conduct routine inspections of airside, groundside, and the terminal facilities.
  •  Provide direction, information, advice and guidance to all airport users.




Basic Requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with a wide variety of stakeholders with tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong decision maker with ability to assess situations and recommend timely and appropriate courses of action.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic and changing environment.
  • A positive attitude and strong customer service orientation with the ability to build relationships at all levels within the airport environment.
  • Ability to handle stress and deal with crisis situations in a calm manner and be able to manage others in a stressful environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, displaying ease in working with a variety of software applications, including the ability to maintain databases.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to obtain and maintain an Airfield Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP).
  •  Be available to work a 12-hour shift rotation, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Additional Requirements
A good working knowledge of Canadian regulations governing airlines and airports would be an asset.
