Canadian North is seeking an individual for a unique opportunity to
lead the enhancement of Canadian North’s communications, media and public
relations programs. The Manager, Communications is a new position responsible
for enhancing the Canadian North brand through the design, development and
execution of communications programs for internal and external stakeholders via
traditional and social media channels. The successful candidate will have a
solid background in corporate and employee communications as well as media and
stakeholder relations, with a passion for efficiently and effectively
communicating progress and results.
The successful candidate will join
the Marketing and Communications team and will be responsible for the creation
of the annual communications plan as well as the development of strong positive
relationships with the media, community and internal stakeholders.
Qualifications:
• Strong background in communications, public
relations and marketing with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
•
Experience dealing with traditional and social media
• Proven track record of
communications programs development and execution
• Demonstrated application
of communications strategies
• Strong written, oral and presentation skills
• Excellent organization skills
• Northern experience, a definite
asset
• Airline experience, considered an asset
• Excellent computer
skills and proficiency in MS Office suite
• Ability to travel
domestically
Responsibilities:
• The daily point of contact and
department coordinator for the media and crisis communications
• Public
relations activities including leveraging Canadian North brand exposure and
profile with sponsorships, events and external stakeholder activities
• Build
and maintain internal senior level connections to ensure timely communication
information
• Build and maintain external media relationships
• Message
management and social media strategy design, implementation and operations
•
Speech writing and presentation development
• Maintenance of content on
intranet and corporate information on our public website
• External
stakeholder and employee communications
• Development of annual budgets,
goals and projections with measurable results
• Demonstrate knowledge of
employee responsibilities regarding safety and actively participate in the
Company’s Safety Management System program
• Provide feedback to all
operating departments
